Redhawks Wrap Up Rhodes Competition

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri's track and field team completed weekend competition Saturday afternoon at the Rhodes Invitational.
Friday Recap – Day One
Craig Munie began his outdoor season by taking fourth in the 5000m run (15:10.19). Jaime Zarate also ran in the event, clocking a time of 15:40.79.
Paden Wachter, Aaliah Herron and McKenna Baker all made appearances in their first hammer throw effort of the year. Wachter led the Redhawks, finishing second at 46.00m. Herron was able to claim fifth at 38.36m while Baker earned a mark of 27.32m.
Wachter competed again in javelin with a mark of 29.75m. Catherine Hopkins also competed, making an outdoor debut toss reaching 28.28m.
On the men's side, Jason Walker and Stephen Zagurski captured first and second in weight throw, respectively. Walker's top mark of 53.25m followed closely by Zagurski's toss of 53.03m each led the next closest competitor by over six meters.
Andrew Ryan competed in his second javelin event of the season, earning fourth place at 47.60m. Walker returned for his second appearance, earning a mark of 41.92m.
Saturday Recap – Day Two
Jordan Barber competed in the 100m dash to begin his outdoor campaign, earning a time of 11.23. Brannon Wright followed closely behind, finishing in 11.27 seconds. Both appeared a second time in the 200m, as Wright finished sixth (22.13) and Barber seventh (22.19).
Mariam Ajiroba (third; 12.27), Cheyanne Tunti (sixth; 12.52) and Prenecia Ponds (seventh; 12.54) all earned top-10 finishes in the women's 100m dash. Tunti and Ponds both also participated in the 200m dash. Tunti earned the top Redhawk time in fourth place (25.17).
Miya Dorsey finished with a time 1:04.38 in the 400m hurdles, taking second place.
Christopher Davis began his outdoor year in the 110m hurdles (17.36) and 400m dash (52.73).
In the 400m hurdles, Ty Crowden finished with a time of 58.54. On the women's side, Dorsey clocked a time of 1:04.38.
Four Redhawks earned top-10 finishes in women's shot put, as Herron's toss of 13.45m captured second. Wachter followed in fourth (12.26m), Baker in sixth (11.84m) and Hopkins finished eight (11.53m).
Herron also took second in discus (38.64m) as Wachter placed third (38.61m).
Zagurski returned to in day two to finish second in shot put (14.00m).
Walker again had success in his third weekend event, taking second in discus (51.03m). Zagurski also competed, registering a distance of 39.88m for seventh in the event.
