Well Rested
Southeast enters midweek action for the first time this season when it heads to Jackson, Mississippi and Hammond, Louisiana this week. The Redhawks are coming off a nine-day layoff after having last played at the Cancer Awareness Tournament on Mar. 6.

Weather Cancels Southeast Games
The Redhawks were initially scheduled to host the Southeast Games on Mar. 12-13, but the three-team tournament was cancelled due to heavy rain. Bradley and Eastern Illinois were also set to play in this year's event. It marked the third-straight year where the Southeast Games was cancelled due to inclement weather.

Conference Play Up Next
This week's doubleheaders at Jackson State (Mar. 15) and Southeastern Louisiana (Mar. 16) are Southeast's last matchups before Ohio Valley Conference play. The Redhawks open their 27-game league slate with a three-game home series against Murray State this weekend. Southeast and MSU play a doubleheader at 1 p.m., CT, Saturday and a single game at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Series History
Southeast is 4-2 all-time against Southwestern Athletic Conference member Jackson State and 1-0 against Southland Conference affiliate Southeastern Louisiana. The Redhawks are looking to snap a two-game losing streak in their series against Jackson State after falling, 11-1, in 2012 and, 1-0, in 2013. Southeast beat Southeastern Louisiana, 10-8, in the lone meeting between these teams in Hammond, Louisiana on Feb. 27, 2015.

Krumrey Wins
Sophomore pitcher Madeline Krumrey picked up wins in consecutive starts when she beat Western Kentucky (Feb. 28) and Northern Illinois (Mar. 5). Krumrey recorded a season-high seven strikeouts and allowed one run in four innings against the Hilltoppers. She then struck out five and gave up three runs in seven innings vs. NIU, her first complete game of the season. Krumrey lowered her ERA from 4.67 to 4.20 over her last three starts, which also included a no-decision at Saint Louis (Mar. 6). She is 2-1 with a team-high 27 strikeouts in 33.1 innings through seven
appearances and six starts this year.

Run, Run, Run
Claire Wernig has scored a run in eight of her 13 starts this season. Wernig leads Southeast with 10 runs scored and ranks second with a .300 batting average. She also tops the Redhawks with three multiple-hit performances. Additionally, Wernig has reached base in eight-straight games.

Top Hitter
Third baseman Haylee Krack enters the week as Southeast's top hitter for the first time this season. Krack boasts a .324 batting average in 13 starts, 12 of which were at third. She leads the Redhawks in doubles (3), home runs (3), RBI (10), total bases (23), slugging percentage (.676) and on-base percentage (.395). Krack is third in the Ohio Valley Conference in slugging percentage and tied for fifth in home runs, as well.

Hayes Starts in the Outfield
Sophomore Riley Hayes started in the outfield for the first time in her Southeast career against Northern Illinois (Mar. 5). Hayes, who started seven games at catcher prior to that contest, went 2-for-3 with a run scored, one RBI and a putout in her debut in right field. She also started in right field vs. UMKC (Mar. 6), getting another hit and a putout. Hayes has hit safely in four of her last five games.

OVC Update
Three Ohio Valley Conference teams, including Eastern Kentucky (15-6), UT Martin (14-10) and Morehead State (9-8) have winning records at this point in the season. Eastern Illinois, Belmont, Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech all have a league-high 15 losses. Southeast's 13 games played are fewest among OVC teams this year.

Offense Looking to Produce
Southeast is looking to end a two-game losing streak when it plays in Cape Girardeau for the first time this season. The Redhawks are currently 10th in the Ohio Valley Conference with a .228 batting average. Southeast is averaging just 5.5 hits and 3.4 runs per contest through 13 games. Southeast's season-highs of 10 runs and 14 hits came in a 10-7 win over Houston Baptist (Feb. 13).

Walk-Off Fashion
The Redhawks were involved in two games that ended in walk-off fashion this season. Junior Danielle Turner drove in the winning run on a double in the bottom of the seventh inning, giving Southeast a 3-2 victory over Valparaiso ( Feb. 27). Saint Louis' Mackenzie Peter then delivered a game-winning single with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Billikens a 4-3 win on Mar. 6. Southeast is 1-2 in one-run games this year.

Seven More
The Redhawks need seven wins to reach 1,000 in their softball program's history. Southeast has compiled 993 wins since its softball program began in 1977. Redhawk teams compiled 30 or more wins in a total of 15 seasons between the NCAA Division I and Division II ranks combined.

Road to 200
Southeast head coach Mark Redburn is 11 wins away from getting 200 in his career. Redburn is currently 189-263 in 12 years as a head coach. He compiled 23 wins at Southeast (2015-present), 90 at Evansville (2010-2014), 49 at Jefferson College (2005-2006) and 27 at St. Charles Community College (2002-2004).

Carpenter Back in the Lineup
Senior first baseman Savannah Carpenter returned to the starting lineup after missing two games with a concussion. Carpenter started all four games at the Cancer Awareness Tournament (Mar. 5-6). She initially suffered her injury on a collision at first base during Southeast's 6-3 loss to Ball State on Feb. 26. Carpenter owns a career batting average of .343 in 125 games and 117 starts.
