Parks and Maton Set New Indoor Records

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Two new records were set Friday night as Southeast Missouri's track & field teams hosted the Redhawks Invitational against the University of Memphis.
Marc Maton and Megan Parks each set new 1000m indoor records. Maton's time of 2:26.25 breaks the original time of 2:27.60 set by Paul Stemmerman in 2009. Parks finished in 2:53.33 tops Janelle Quigley's time of 2:56.70 set in 1998.
In men's pole vault, Christian Locke increased his OVC leading mark by setting a new personal record of 5.20m (17'.75") in a second-place finish. Dylan Rush also set a new personal best in the event, taking third-place at 5.06m.
Haile Wilson ran a 6.33 in the men's 55m dash.
In the 800m run, James Kosbar finished ran personal best at 1:59.87 to earn second.
Jace Mortimer placed first in the mile run at 4:33.80.
Chris Martin placed second in triple jump with a effort measuring 15.32m. Abayomi Akinmoladun also set a new personal best distance in fourth place (13.86m).
Jacob Kent earned second in long jump, leaping 7.21m.
Dalton Huffman took second in high jump with a mark of 1.90m.
Jason Walker led Southeast athletes in both weight throw (16.64m) and shot put (14.58m).
In women's track, Macy Ritter captured first with a time of 7.33 seconds.
Taylor Coffelt earned third-place in the 55m hurdles, finishing in 8.76 seconds.
Earning first place in the 800m, Anna Thomas finished with a time of 2:30.23.
Andrea George set a new personal best in a second-place finish in the mile with a time of 5:33.70.
Sidne' Willamson led the Redhawks in women's long jump with a leap of 5.43m, taking third-place. She also set the top Redhawk time in the 200m dash at 27.04 seconds.
Chante Mosby and Abi Sowash tied for second in the high jump at a height o 1.62m.
Sierra Maddox posted the top pole vault height for Southeast at 3.61m, tying her best mark during her time at Southeast.
Aaliah Herron took second in both shot put and weight throw with new personal bests of 13.94m and 16.68m. Paden Wachter was able to claim third in both events, with her weight throw distance of 15.31m setting a new personal collegiate best.
Southeast will return to action next weekend at the OVC Indoor Champions in Nashville, Tennessee. The two-day event will begin Friday, Feb. 26 and will be hosted by Tennessee State University. Last season, Southeast's men's team won the OVC indoor title while the women placed third.
