Five Redhawks Claim First At Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Southeast Missouri's track and field teams competed at the Purdue University Fred Wilt Invitational Saturday.
Marc Maton (14.28.91) and Kaitlyn Shea (17:42.31) both set personal best times while taking first-place in their respective 5000m races.
Southeast's trio of Megan Parks (1:38.18), Jovannie Spears (1:38.50) and Miya Dorsey (1:43.55) claimed first, second and third, respectively, in the 600m run.
Jacob Kent won the high jump with a 1.96m mark. He also competed in the long jump, placing fifth with a leap of 7.02m.
Christian Locke was victorious in the pole vault, winning with a height of 5.06m.
Other Redhawk efforts included Mariam Ajiroba running a 7.67 60m dash to finish fourth.
Angela Sumner finished with a time of 10:19.89 in the 3000m run, earning fifth-place.
Sierra Maddox and Haley Holton tied for third in the pole vault at a height of 3.61m.
N'Kia Jones placed fourth in the triple jump, jumping 11.36m.
Aaliah Herron secured fifth-place in the shot put with a toss of 13.35m.
Paden Wachter grabbed fifth in the weight throw with a throw of 15.14m.
For the men's team, Haile Wilson was fifth in the 60m dash with a time of 6.94 seconds. Wilson took fifth with a time of 22.67 in the 200m dash, as well.
Six Redhawks competed in the men's 600m run in a tight competition. Southeast had the top six place winners. Brandon Chunn's time of 1:21.63 paved the way with Kameron Long, Jarred Pasley and Cole Davis all finishing less than a second behind Chunn.
Dan Plunkett took fourth in the mile run with a time 4:20.34.
Chris Martin placed second in men's triple jump, leaping 14.36m.
Stephen Zagurski paced the Redhawks in the weight throw, taking fourth with a toss of 16.77m. He was able to capture fourth in the shot put with a throw measuring 14.43m.
Southeast's track & field teams return home to host the Redhawks Invitational. The event will take place on Feb. 19 at the Student Recreation Center-North.
