Redhawks, Bruins Play to Scoreless Stalemate

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri women's soccer (7-4-4, 1-2-3) earned a point in the Ohio Valley Conference standings Sunday following a scoreless tie at Belmont (4-6-4, 3-2-1).
 
The Redhawks trailed in the final shots category, 17-12. Southeast finished with five shots on goal while Belmont had six. In the final 65 minutes, the Redhawks and Bruins tied shots with nine each.
 
Esmeralda Gonzales led the Redhawks with four shots, putting a trio on goal. Natasha Minor had two shots, putting one on goal.
 
Kindra Lierz (7-4-4) played the full 110 minutes in the solo shutout. She made six stops. The shutout was her seventh of the season and 23rd of her career.
 
Stephanie Bukovec also played the full 110 minutes in goal for Belmont. Bukovec earned five saves in the solo shutout.
 
At halftime, Southeast trailed in shots, 8-3. Belmont had three shots on goal while the Redhawks had none. Shay Darga, Shelby Beussink, and Maddy Cornell combined for the Redhawks' three first-half shots.
 
At the end of regulation, the Redhawks still trailed in shots despite upping the offensive output. Each team had six shots in the half to bring their total shots in regulation to 14-9.
 
At the end of the match, Belmont led in corner kick opportunities, 6-4, and was called for more fouls, 9-4. Southeast's four fouls were a season-low.
 
Sophomore defender Maddi Karstens was the only field player for SEMO to play the entirety of the match.
 
Southeast Missouri will play its final road match of the season on Friday when the Redhawks travel to Tennessee Tech. The Redhawks and Golden Eagles are set to begin at 3 p.m. from Cookeville.
