Redhawks Finish Home Stand with 1-1 Draw

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Southeast Missouri women's soccer team (7-3-3, 1-1-2) finished its home weekend with a 1-1 draw with Austin Peay (7-4-1, 2-0-1).
 
Southeast finished with a pair of draws this weekend, good enough for two points in the Ohio Valley Conference standings. SEMO now has five points in four conference matches.
 
The Redhawks were outshot in the match 12-6 but put one more shot on goal, 4-3.
 
Natasha Minor netted Southeast's lone goal in the 31st minute of the match. She fired off two shots, putting both on goal for the Redhawks. The goal was Minor's ninth of the season, 25th of her career.
 
Along with Minor, Esmeralda Gonzales and Cassidi Tomsu each had two shots; Gonzales had two on goal.
 
Kindra Lierz played the full 110 minutes in goal. Lierz allowed one goal and made two stops.
 
Lindsey Todd also played the full 110 minutes in goal for Austin Peay. She allowed one goal with three saves.
 
Minor's goal came in the 31st minute. Gonzales dished out to Minor whose high shot tipped off Todd's hand and into the top of the net.
 
Southeast led 1-0 at halftime while also leading in shots 4-2.
 
Austin Peay's Jennifer Smith netted her third goal of the season in the 52nd minute to tie the match. Kirtsten Robertson assisted on Smith's goal.
 
The game went through double overtime and ended in a 1-1 draw.
 
The Redhawks were held to just one shot in each the second half and the first overtime.
 
Gina Fabro led the Govs with three shots while three others each had a pair.
 
The Redhawks will open a three-match road set beginning Friday at Jacksonville State. The Redhawks and Gamecocks will kickoff at 7 p.m.
