CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Tennessee State (10-4, 1-0) used a 14-4 run in the final 3:43 to beat Southeast Missouri (2-12, 0-2), 72-66, Saturday at the Show Me Center.

In a back-and-forth game that featured 13 ties and 10 lead changes, TSU trailed, 62-58, before making its decisive push down the stretch.

After
Trey Kellum made two free throws, Xavier Richards followed with a jumper and Wayne Martin knocked down a pair of free throws to tie the game at 62-62 with just under three minutes remaining.

Following a Southeast turnover, Darreon Reddick buried a 3-pointer to give TSU the lead.
Eric McGill's jumper quickly cut the Tigers lead to one and that was as close as the Redhawks would get.

Richards threw down a dunk and Reddick made a jumper the next two times TSU had the ball. Reddick and Tahjere McCall each split two free throws to extend the Tigers lead to 71-64 with 19 seconds left before TSU closed out its first Ohio Valley Conference win.

TSU went into the locker room with a 35-33 edge at halftime.

Trey Kellum's jumper put Southeast ahead, 9-4, three minutes in, giving the Redhawks their largest lead of the game.

After
Antonius Cleveland's layup cut TSU's lead to 24-23 at the 6:34 mark, the Tigers put together an 11-5 run to take a seven-point advantage.

Reddick began the surge with a 3-pointer and Keron DeShields later buried a three on back-to-back possessions to raise TSU's lead to 35-28 with 2:17 left.

McGill scored the last five points of the half on a jumper and 3-pointer from the top of the arc as Southeast pulled to within two.

McCall led TSU with 17 points, while three others, including Keron DeShields (15), Marcus Roper (12) and Reddick (11) joined him with double figures in the scoring column. Reddick and DeShields each had two 3-pointers, as TSU shot 45.5 percent (25-of-55) from the field.

Cleveland and
Joel Angus III had a double-double. Cleveland scored a game-high 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and Angus pitched in 13 points and grabbed 13 boards. Cleveland recorded his second straight double-double and third in four starts.

McGill and Kellum followed with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Southeast resumes OVC play when it travels to Morehead State on Jan. 7.
