CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri will conclude its three-game home stand on Tuesday when they host Ohio Valley Conference foe UT Martin. First serve is slated for 6:30 p.m. from Houck Field House.

The Redhawks finished their opening weekend of conference play 1-1 after falling to Murray State (0-3) and defeating Austin Peay (3-1). After a strong defensive performance against the APSU on Saturday, Head Coach
Julie Yankus commented on the victory, "We focused on blocking all week and I'm so happy that hard work paid off. We really focused on blocking form and reading our opponents, and it definitely showed tonight." The Redhawks finished with 11 team blocks in the match, two short of a season-high.
Krissa Gearring leads the Redhawks with 158 kills on the year, with
Nzingha Clarke close behind with 155. Clarke's hitting percentage of .323 currently ranks second in the OVC. Defensively, libero
Jade Mortimer has accumulated 250 digs this season, ranking third in digs per set (4.39). The Redhawks 15.86 digs per set is second in the conference.
UT Martin is currently 1-1 in conference play after sweeping Austin Peay then falling to Murray State at home. The Skyhawks are 5-14 overall this season under the direction of first-year head coach Jaclynn Yocum (118-26 career). Sophomore Leal Ceriani leads UTM in kills, generating 171 this year (2.48 per set).
The Redhawks split the home-and-home series with the Skyhawks a season ago. Southeast fell on the road in five sets but bounced back later in the season, sweeping UTM at home.
Southeast will continue conference play Saturday, Oct. 3 against Tennessee Tech. The Redhawks will then head to Western Illinois for their final non-conference match of the season on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
