CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri heads to the Bradley University Tournament this weekend.
Southeast opens play with matches against Texas-El Paso (10 a.m.) and tournament host Bradley (7 p.m.) Friday. The Redhawks match against BU will be broadcast live on WatchESPN. Southeast then faces DePaul at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
This weekend's tournament marks Southeast's final tune-up before Ohio Valley Conference play begins on Sept. 25.
Redhawks RecapSoutheast went 1-2 at the Razorback Invitational last weekend and fell to regional rival Southern Illinois Tuesday, bringing its overall record to 3-7. Sophomore
Krissa Gearring leads the Redhawks with 108 kills this season, while sophomore
Nzingha Clarke follows with 99 kills and a team-best .329 hitting clip. Clarke currently ranks third in the Ohio Valley Conference in hitting percentage. Junior libero
Jade Mortimer is fourth in the conference with 4.34 digs per set, accumulating 152 so far this season. The Redhawks 16.03 digs per set average is second in the OVC.
Scouting the MinersUTEP is 4-7 this season after a loss to Texas Tech on Tuesday. The Miners split over the weekend, defeating Brown and Robert Morris while falling to Denver and Oklahoma. Talia Jones and Dalainee Perry lead the Miners with 107 kills each, while Lindsey Larson has 407 assists (9.25 per set) this year.
Scouting the BravesThe Braves sit at 5-4 on the season but are currently riding a three-match losing streak. The Missouri-Kansas City Kangaroo Klassic saw the Braves fall in all nine sets played in matches against Missouri-Kansas City, Nebraska-Omaha, and SIUE. At home this season, the Braves are 2-1.
Scouting the Blue DemonsThe Blue Demons dropped their first match of the season and since then have gone on an eight-game winning streak. Most recently, the Blue Demons defeated Radford, Grambling State, and Georgia State. Caitlyn Coffey leads DePaul with 106 kills and a .524 attack percentage on the season. Colleen Smith has accumulated 344 assists this year for the Blue Demons, averaging 11.10 per set.

Live Stats Looking AheadThe Redhawks will open OVC play Friday, Sept. 25 against rival Murray State in Houck Field House at 6:30 p.m. Friday's match will be the annual Houck "Filled" House. The first 500 students in attendance to Friday's match will receive an exclusive Houck "Filled" House tank top. The Redhawks look to break the attendance record set at last year's Houck "Filled" House of 1,206. Southeast will host Austin Peay at 5 p.m. the following evening, Sept. 26.
