Soccer Heads to Florida for Two Matches

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Southeast Missouri soccer will head to Florida this weekend for a pair of games in the Sunshine State. The Redhawks will play Florida Atlantic on Friday at 6 p.m., CT. Southeast will then play Lynn University on Sunday at 5 p.m., CT. 

Due to a scheduling conflict with FAU football, Friday's match will be played on the campus of Palm Beach Atlantic in West Palm Beach, Florida. 

This will be Southeast's first meeting with both Florida Atlantic and Lynn in the 17-year history of the program. 

Let's Review
After finishing a three-game home stand 1-1-1, the Redhawks hit the road on Monday for a matchup with Atlantic Coast Conference opponent Louisville. Louisville scored in the eighth minute on an unassisted goal from about 30 yards out. For the second match in a row, Southeast trailed at half. The Cardinals extended the lead to 2-0 late in the game, in the 80th minute, to down the Redhawks. The Redhawks were outshot 16-5. Natasha Minor led the Redhawks with three shots, one on goal.

National Cheeseburger Day
The Redhawks are celebrating National Cheeseburger Day when they host Arkansas State. McDonald's will be giving out cheeseburgers to 150 fans. There will also be a cheeseburger eating contest during halftime. 

Scouting the Opponents
Florida Atlantic Owls

The Owls are sporting a 5-1 record with wins over Stetson, North Florida, Sam Houston State, Miami, and Jacksonville with thier one loss coming to Texas A&M. They're outsocring their opponents 11-4 and average 1.83 goals a game. Geovana Alves leads the team with four gaols on the season while Claire Emslie leads the team with 19 shots. 
Lynn Fighting Knights
Lynn, a DII program, just began their season and have played two matches. They fell to No. 5-ranked Columbus State, 2-0, in the season opener and fell 3-1 to West Florida. 

Longest Road Winning Streak
Southeast Missouri saw its longest road winning streak in program history snapped with Monday's loss to Louisville. The new record of seven games tops the old six-game record.

Looking Ahead
Southeast will return home Friday, Sept. 18 for a match against regional rival Arkansas State. Southeast defeated the Red Wolves a season ago in Jonesboro, 3-0. Southeast will then return to the road for a match at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee on Sunday. Southeast's match with Union will be the final game before the Redhawks kick off Ohio Valley Conference play against SIUE on Sept. 25 at home.
