Final Statistics Game 2MURRAY, Ky. - Southeast Missouri (10-20, 5-9) lost twice in walkoff fashion to Murray State (24-14, 11-5) Saturday afternoon at Racer Field. The Redhawks fell by scores of 4-3 and 6-5.
Southeast saw its season-long four-game winning streak come to an end against the Racers.
Murray State 4, Southeast Missouri 3Jessica Twaddle scored the winning run when Cayla Levins drew a two-out bases loaded walk in the borrom of the seventh inning.
Twaddle was hit by a pitch, went to second on a bunt single by Jocelynn Rodgers, advanced to third on a fielder's choice and touched home on Levins' bases on balls.
Trailing, 1-0, after three innings, Southeast tied the game when
India Davis knocked in
Claire Wernig on a two-out single to left field.
MSU then built a 3-1 cushion after scoring once in each of the fifth and sixth innings before the Redhawks tied the game again in the seventh.
Taylor McDannold drove in both
Kayla Fortner and
Savannah Carpenter on a single up the middle.
CheyAnne Gaskey (12-7) picked up the win, striking out five in 6.1 innings. Gaskey gave up three runs on seven hits and issued five walks, as well.
Haven Campbell earned the save after recording two outs.
Madeline Krumrey (7-7) suffered the loss. Krumrey allowed seven hits and four runs, while walking four in 6.2 innings.
Southeast, which left 10 runners on base, outhit MSU, 8-7. McDannold went 3-for-4 with two RBI and
Lindsey Patterson added two hits to pave the way.
Murray State 6, Southeast Missouri 5Alexa Becker delivered a two-out RBI-single in the bottom of the seventh inning to complete Murray State's doubleheader sweep.
Becker's timely hit scored Shelbey Miller in the Racers second walkoff win of the day.
The Racers led, 3-0, after four innings when Southeast tied the game on Patterson's three-run homer in the fifth. It was the fifth round-tripper for Patterson this season.
MSU countered with two more runs in the bottom of the fifth before the Redhawks evened the score again, this time on a two-RBI double by
Meaghan Touchette in the top of the seventh.
J.J. Francis (1-1) secured the win in relief, giving up two hits, two runs and four walks in 2.2 innings.
Keaira Schilling (3-8) took the loss. Schilling went the distance, allowing six runs on 14 hits. She also struck out one and walked two.
The Redhawks stranded 10 more baserunners and had six hits.
Patterson went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI and
Chelsea Smith chipped in two hits.
Southeast and MSU wrap up their series at 1 p.m., CT, Sunday.
