Final Statistics

MONROE, La. - Southeast Missouri (0-2) ended the first day of the Mardi Gras Classic with an 11-3 loss to tournament host UL Monroe (6-1) Friday night.

Southeast, which never led in the game, fell behind 5-0 and never recovered.

The Redhawks were no-hit through three innings before getting on the board with two-out RBI-single by Lindsey Patterson in the fourth.

Southeast then trailed, 8-1, when it had its biggest inning in the sixth. After Nicole Deering reached on a one-out single, Kayla Fortner hit a home run to center field. Fortner, who homered in her first two starts, narrowed the Warhawks lead to 8-3.

An RBI-single by Cheyanne Lyon and two-run home run by Vanessa Garcia put the finishing touches on ULM's win the sixth.

Melanie Coyne (1-1) went the distance, scattering five hits and allowing three runs in six innings. Coyne struck out nine and did not give up a walk, as well.

Keaira Schilling (0-1) gave up four hits, walked three and allowed five runs in three innings.

Deering had two hits to lead Southeast. Fortner, India Davis and Patterson followed with one each.

Faith Bohack, Lyon and Garcia combined for five hits, six runs and five RBI at the bottom of the Warhawks order.

Southeast resumes action at the Mardi Gras Classic against Alabama State (9 a.m.) and Grambling State (1 p.m.).
