Redhawks Hit the Road for Austin Peay, Murray State

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri will begin its final road trip of the regular season to face Austin Peay at 7 p.m. on Friday and Murray State at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Both matches are scheduled to broadcast for free on the OVC Digital Network.

After winning a pair of matches at home last weekend, the Redhawks are now 10-15 overall this season. By knocking off Eastern Illinois in five sets and sweeping SIUE, Southeast improved its Ohio Valley Conference record to an even 6-6.

Block Party
Southeast currently leads conference play with 2.35 blocks per set. Individually, Nzingha Clarkes' 96 total blocks this season ranks first in the OVC.

On The Attack
After another strong weekend performance, Madalyn Werths eclipsed the 200-kill mark on the season to join Krissa Gearring (244) and Clarke (264). All three tallied over 20 kills in the two matches last weekend, as Southeast's combined attack percentage was .316. Keegan Fornoff and Katarina Rotta combined for 91 assists, averaging 11.38 per set.

Scouting the Lady Govs
After falling to Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech last weekend, Austin Peay is now 1-11 in league play. The Redhawks battled APSU at Houck Field House on Sept. 26, defeating the Lady Govs, 3-1. Coming off a 3-2 victory over non-conference opponent Alabama A&M on Tuesday, APSU enters the weekend at 7-21 overall.

Scouting the Racers
After defeating Jacksonville State and TTU, Murray State is now 11-1 in conference play. The weekend before Southeast defeated EIU, the Panthers had given the Racers their only conference defeat this season. On Sept. 25, MSU defeated Southeast 3-0 to open the 2015 conference season. The Racers are led by reigning OVC Offensive Player of the Week Scottie Ingram. Ingram has 291 kills on the season, averaging 3.78 per set.

Looking Ahead
Southeast will complete its three-game road swing on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at UT Martin. The Redhawks will return home to finish the regular season with senior night on Nov. 14 against Jacksonville State at 2 p.m.
