CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri soccer begins the month of October with a three-match road swing. Southeast will play Austin Peay on Friday evening at 7 p.m. The Redhawks will continue the road swing at Murray State on Sunday. The Redhawks and Racers kick off at 2 p.m.

Kindra Lierz played 189 minutes in net not giving up a goal and making five saves.
OVC Defensive Player of the Week, AgainPaige Blankenheim was named the adidas® OVC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. Blankenheim played a key role defensively as well as offensively last weekend in Southeast's first conference games. She contributed 155 total minutes to a defense that didn't let up any goals in shutouts of SIUE and Eastern Illinois. The Cougars and Panthers combined for only five shots on goal against the Redhawks this weekend. Offensively, Blankenheim contributed a pair of assists in Sunday's 5-0 win over Eastern Illinois.
NSCAA Team Academic AwardThe National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced that Southeast Missouri women's soccer posted the fifth best team GPA among all Division I teams in 2014-15. The Redhawks' GPA was also the seventh highest among all NCAA women's programs. Southeast registered a cumulative team GPA of 3.69 for the 2014-15 academic year. This is the sixth-straight year the Redhawks have earned Team Academic recognition (2010-15).
Scouting the OpponentsAustin Peay Lady GovsAustin Peay opened up conference play with a 1-0 loss at Eastern Kentucky last week. Gina Fabbro led the team with four shots with two of them being on goal.
Murray State RacersMurray State defeated Eastern Kentucky to open up OVC play before falling to Saint Louis last week. Freshman Caroline Ashton scored her first goal as a Racer. She came off the bench to score the game-winning goal in the 82nd minutes versus EKU.
Looking AheadSoutheast will bring its three-game road swing to a close at Eastern Kentucky on Thursday, Oct 8. The Redhawks return home for Homecoming Weekend Oct. 16. The Redhawks welcome Belmont that Friday and Jacksonville State on Sunday.
