CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri volleyball dropped their second Ohio Valley Conference match of the weekend Saturday, this time against the Austin Peay Lady Govs (8-10, 2-0 OVC). The Redhawks fell in four sets (20-25, 25-15, 18-25, 24-26).

The Redhawks are now 4-11 overall and 0-2 in OVC play.

The Redhawks fell to the Lady Govs in set one, 25-20. Southeast fell behind early but was able to overcome the early deficit and stay hot on the Lady Govs' tails much of the set. Tied at 17, APSU pulled away from the Redhawks and went on to win the first set and take a 1-0 lead in the match.

It was all Southeast Missouri in the second set as they cruised to a 25-15 set two win. The Redhawks used an early 7-1 run to open a big lead. Southeast only continued to grow that lead as they led as much as 13 points. Austin Peay began to figure out how to slow down the Redhawk offense but it was too late for the Lady Govs. The Redhawks handedly took set two and tied the match at a set apiece. As a team, Southeast hit .429 in the second frame.

The Lady Govs never trailed in the third set as they cruised to a 25-18 set three win, taking a 2-1 lead in the match.

The Redhawks were down by as much as six points in the fourth set but worked their way back to tie it at 19. Southeast found themselves up 23-20, looking to force a fifth set. Two Lady Gov kills and a Redhawk error tied it at 23. With the set all knotted up at 24, two-straight kills by Jada Stotts exterminated the Redhawk rally and secured the match for the Lady Govs, 26-24.

Krissa Gearring had a double-double performance on the day after having 11 kills and 25 digs.
Andrea Baylin had 12 kills of her own.

The middle blockers were on point Saturday afternoon.
Nzingha Clarke had seven blocks while
Taylor Masterson had six blocks on the day, contributing to a season-best 13 team blocks. Offensively, Clarke had 11 kills while hitting .444 and Masterson had 10 kills with a .333 hitting clip.

Southeast Missouri will hit the road once again on Tuesday when they head to Martin, Tennessee for a showdown with the UT Martin Skyhawks at 7 p.m.Â
