PDF Box ScoreMURRAY, Ky. – The Southeast Missouri volleyball team fell to Murray State (10-3, 1-0 OVC) in the 2014 Ohio Valley Conference opener Friday evening, 3-0 (24-26, 20-25, 21-25).

It was a tight first set as the score was tied 10 times and the lead changed twice. Tied at 23, a pair of service errors from each side still had the set knotted up at 24. Murray used a Redhawk attack error and a service ace off Southeast to wrap up the first set, 26-24. On paper, Southeast outplayed the Racers as the Redhawks had more kills, more digs, had a better hitting percentage and had more blocks.

While Southeast hit a respectable .235 as a team in the second stanza, it was difficult to stop a Murray offense that hit .480. The Racers cruised to a 25-20 set two win to take a 2-0 lead heading into the intermission.

Facing a sweep in the conference opener, the Redhawks were able to take a lead at first but unfortunately weren't able to hold on to the early advantage. Southeast had more kills in the set but a total of nine attack errors by Southeast allowed the Racers to take the final set 25-21 and the match.

Andrea Baylin had her seventh double-double performance with 12 kills and 13 digs.
Taylor Masterson added seven kills while hitting .545 with four blocks on the night.

The Redhawks will return to action Saturday when they head to Clarksville, Tennessee to take on the Austin Peay Lady Govs in another OVC showdown.Â
