CHARLESTON, Ill. – Southeast Missouri (4-3-0, 1-0 OVC) scored three goals in the first 33 minutes for the second straight game in a 4-0 shutout at Eastern Illinois (1-8-1, 0-1 OVC) on Friday afternoon. F Natasha Minor scored twice in the first half to lead a dominant Redhawks performance in the Ohio Valley Conference opener for both teams. GK Kindra Lierz earned her fourth shutout of the season.

"We were very professional in our approach to the game and clinical in our execution. We have a great bunch of ladies who are committed to replicating the game plan for each match," associate head coach Paul Nelson said. "It was a great start to the OVC schedule but all the players know it's only one game and we have already moved on in preparation for our next opponent."

Southeast outshot the Panthers 18-13, including a 10-8 advantage in shots on goal. Minor led the way, setting career-highs with two goals, six shots and four shots on goal. The Redhawks also had an 11-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Minor gave the Redhawks an early 1-0 lead with a goal in the 12th minute on a feed from F Breana Beine. Her second goal came 13 minutes later on an assist from D Paige Luehmann.

D Christina Rohde notched her first career goal in the 33rd minute on a corner kick feed from F Ashley Brendel. MF Taylor Byrd rounded out the scoring with her first goal since 2012 that was assisted by her sister, Torey Byrd, and Minor, who are tied for the team-lead with three assists.

Beine added three shots, including two on goal while Brendel and Luehmann each recorded two shots. Lierz finished with a career-high eight saves in the contest.

F Madison Carter and MF Meagan Radloff tied for a team-high with three shots for EIU. GK Emily Hinton finished with six saves on the afternoon for the Panthers.

The Redhawks won their OVC opener for the second consecutive season and third time in the last four years. They defeated Eastern Illinois by the same 4-0 total as last year's contest between the squads.

Southeast returns home for two OVC contests next weekend from Missouri National Guard Field at Houck Stadium. The Redhawks will host UT Martin on Oct. 3 at 6:30 p.m. and Murray State on Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. during Homecoming Weekend.
