CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Southeast Missouri cross country teams traveled to regional rival Southern Illinois Saturday morning. The men's and women's teams each finished second.
The men ran an 8k while the women ran the 6k. Individually, both teams finished tight together.
"It was a good team effort to help us prepare for Louisville and beyond," said head coach Ryan Lane.
Once again for the men, Shane Brown was the top-finisher. Brown finished in ninth with a time of 26:28.20. Angela Sumner was the top-finisher for the women as she posted a fifth-place finish in 18:28.76.
All but one of the 10 runners on the men's team finished between ninth and 22nd places. Behind Brown, Tyler Holmes finished with Brown in 10th in 26:28.37 while Tyler Beaman finished in 11th in 26:30.49. Colten Strotheide (26:38.46) and Tyson Stoverink (26:45.47) finished back-to-back in 13th and 14th places. Nathan Cook (16th, 26:58.03), Marc Maton (18th, 27:31.07), Sean Brown (20th, 27:51.46), Ryan Anderson (22nd, 28:02.88) and Cole Ross (28th, 29:11.32) rounded out the pack for Southeast.
Behind Sumner, Rebekah Lawson (18:48.49), Megan Parks (18:54.70), and Gloria Westlake (19:07.77) finished seventh, eighth, and ninth, respectively. Sydney O'Brien picked up a 12th-place finish with a time of 19:28.87. Lindsey Seabaugh (19:54.92) and Kristen Richardet (20:09.90) finished close together in 15th and 17th places, respectively. Andrea George (21st, 20:13.79), Mary Dohogne (22nd, 20:21.63), Eilish Overby (24th, 20:38.71), Laura Chavez (25th, 20:39.14), and Zhao Ni Dirnberger (27th, 21:01.06) rounded out the race for Southeast.
The Redhawks will travel to Louisville, Kentucky Oct. 4 for the Greater Louisville Classic.
