Redhawks Have Good Showing at Louisville Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Southeast Missouri cross country teams competed at the Greater Louisville Classic Saturday. The women's team placed 22nd while the men finished 24th.
"Our women ran well today," said head coach Ryan Lane. "We need to work on closing the gap after our fourth runner to hit our goals, but as a whole, they had a solid performance and progressed as a team."
For the women, Gloria Westlake was the top finisher. Westlake finished 84th in a field of 300 runners with a time of 18:14.87. Megan Parks wasn't far behind as she finished 104th with a time of 18:22.90. Rebekah Lawson placed 109th in 18:24.84 while Angela Sumner finished 120th with a time of 18:29.34. Mary Dohogne placed 181st in 19:00.51 while Sydney O'Brien rounded out the top-200 for the Redhawks with a 198th-place finish in 19:08.90. Kristen Richardet (233rd, 19:29.12), Eilish Overby (242nd, 19:36.29), Andrea George (245th, 19:39.20), Lindsey Seabaugh (250th, 19:41.38), and Laura Chavez (283rd, 20:33.96) rounded out the race for the Redhawk women.
Lane added, "Our guys had a good, but not great day. We ran tremendously close but we need to continue to improve in order to place where we want to at conference."
For the men, sophomore Marc Maton took the top spot for Southeast with a 105th-place finish in 25:36.64. Shane Brown placed 141st with a time of 25:55.57. Tyler Beaman (26:03.30) and Tyler Holmes (26:03.53) finished back-to-back in 152nd and 153rd places. Ryan Anderson finished 160th in 26:09.34. Nathan Cook (167th, 26:14.49), Colten Strotheide (173rd, 26:16.74), Tyson Stoverink (208th, 26:44.17), Sean Brown (237th, 27:53.94), and Dan Plunkett (243rd, 28:27.40) finished the race for Southeast.
The Redhawks will compete at the Bradley Classic in two weeks on Oct. 17. This will be the Redhawks' final race before the Ohio Valley Conference Championships on Nov. 1.
