CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Southeast Missouri cross country teams will head to Peoria, Illinois Friday to compete in the Bradley University Pink Classic.
The women will run a 6k beginning at 3 p.m. followed by the men's 8k race at 3:40. The meet will be held at Newman Golf Course in Peoria.
"Our main goal for this weekend is to continue to move up the conference rankings heading into the Ohio Valley Conference Championships in two weeks," said head coach Ryan Lane. "Four other OVC teams will be there and we want to be the top team of them all and judging by how we practiced this week, we can accomplish that."
The Redhawks last competed at the Greater Louisville Classic on Oct. 4. The women's team placed 22nd. Eastern Kentucky's women's team finished sixth while Eastern Illinois finished just ahead of Southeast in 21st. The men's team finished in 24th behind Morehead State (16th) and Eastern Illinois (20th).
Individually, Gloria Westlake was the top finisher for the Redhawks as she turned in an 84th-place finish with a time of 18:14. Megan Parks and Rebekah Lawson weren't far behind as they finished in 18:22 and 18:24, respectively. Marc Maton turned in the men's top time of 25:36 to place 105th.
The OVC Championships will be held Nov. 1 in Oxford, Alabama.
