JONESBORO, Ark. – Southeast Missouri (3-3) F Breana Beine tied a school record with three goals in a 3-0 shutout victory at Arkansas State (2-6) on Friday evening. Beine scored three times in the first 33 minutes, posting the 10th hat trick in program history and first since F Ashley Runion achieved the feat on Aug. 27, 2010 vs. Alabama A&M.

"Bre did a great job making early and decisive runs, which allowed her teammates to connect some great passes," head coach Heather Nelson said. "She attacked the goal with confidence and was rewarded for her mentality. Overall, Bre had an outstanding game and we are excited for her to tie our school record."

Southeast outshot the Red Wolves 17-11 including a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal. GK Kindra Lierz made two saves as she earned her third shutout of the season.

Beine notched her first career hat trick, third multi-goal performance as an NCAA player and first since joining Southeast prior to her junior season. It marked her first multi-goal output since scoring twice on Oct. 23, 2011 vs. Drake when she competed for Evansville. She also added two scores vs. Northern Iowa on Oct. 24, 2010 as a member of the Purple Aces. She now has 16 career NCAA goals, which puts her two ahead of F/D Erin Shulman for most among active Redhawks. Beine leads the team with four goals on the season.

Just seven minutes into the game, Beine opened up the scoring as she beat the Red Wolves GK Sara Wicks on a contested shot near the front edge of the goalie box. MF/F Kasey Crowden added her first assist of the season on the goal.

Beine extended the lead to 2-0 in the 22nd minute when she scored off of a corner kick from F Natasha Minor, who was credited with her team-best second assist of the year.

In the 33rd minute, Beine earned the hat trick after receiving a pass from MF Torey Byrd to push the advantage to 3-0. For Byrd, it marked her second assist of the year, tying Minor for the team-lead.

MF Kaitlin Kuznacic and Minor tied for a game-best with five shots. Beine and Minor both registered a game-high three shots on goal.

D Lauren Crimi led Arkansas State with three shots, including two on goal. GK Amanda Lee relieved Wicks after halftime and made four saves in the second half.

Southeast returns to play with the Ohio Valley Conference opener at 3 p.m. on Sept. 26 at Eastern Illinois.
