KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Southeast Missouri volleyball team fell to the UMKC Kangaroos Wednesday evening, 3-1 (17-25, 14-25, 25-21, 14-25).

The Redhawks fall to 4-8 on the season.

The Kangaroos jumped out to an early lead on the Redhawks and rode it all the way to a set one, 25-17 victory.

The Redhawks were once again shut down in the second set as UMKC won 25-14.

The third set was played much closer than the first two. The lead changed multiple times throughout the set. Tied at 20, the Redhawks used a 5-1 run to wrap up the set and avoid a sweep by the Kangaroos, 25-21.

The 'Roos wrapped up the match with a 25-14 set four win.

Offense was hard to come by for the Redhawks as a total of seven players hit in the red in the match. As a team, Southeast hit only .043 in the match with 30 attack errors.

Alex Rohlfing had the most kills for Southeast as she had nine to her name while
Madalyn Werths had eight of her own while hitting .308.

The Redhawks did put up five blocks against UMKC.
Taylor Masterson had three solo blocks while
Nzingha Clarke had two solo blocks and assisted on three. Masterson and Clarke also combined for 11 kills.

The Redhawks will host regional rival Southern Illinois Sunday at 1 p.m. The Redhawks will attempt to break the Houck Field House attendance record of 1,168 in the second annual Houck "FILLED" House event. The first 1,000 students through the gate will receive a free t-shirt. The volleyball team will also hold a silent auction to benefit the volleyball program on Sunday.Â
