Looking Back
The Redhawks finished tournament play last weekend. Southeast went 3-1 at the ISTAP Collegiate Cup 2 hosted by Alabama State. The Redhawks picked up sweeps against Alabama State, Savannah State, and The Citadel before falling in five sets to Southern Mississippi to close the tournament. Kelsey Keeve and Andrea Baylin earned all-tournament honors for their performances on the weekend. Keeve tallied 37 kills and a .444 hitting percentage last week. She made just seven errors on 72 attempts. In the win over The Citadel, Keeve recorded a career-high 15 kills while hitting .737. She had 12 kills, 10 digs and a .455 attack percentage against Alabama State. Keeve also finished the week with seven blocks.

Waking the Offense
One of the main goals for Southeast Missouri volleyball going into the 2014 season was to increase the offensive output.  Well the Redhawks have done just that. Currently, the Redhawks are hitting .208 as a team, which ranks fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference. Southeast ranks towards the middle of the league in the kills category with 11.90 kills per set. After a stellar weekend, Kelsey Keeve is hitting .366 on the season, good enough for third in the league. Taylor Masterson's .345 hitting clip ranks sixth. Andrea Baylin's mark of 2.85 kills per set ranks 10th.

Houck "FILLED" House
Southeast Missouri will attempt to break a Houck Field House attendance record when they host Southern Illinois in the home opener on Sunday. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. Southeast Missouri will attempt to break the attendance record of 1,168 set on November 9, 1993 when Southeast played Murray State. Free "Houck FILLED House" t-shirts will be handed out to the first 1,000 students through the gate.

Silent Auction
Along with the Houck "FILLED" House event Sunday, the Redhawks volleyball team will hold a silent auction. All money raised will go directly to the Redhawks volleyball program. Items include a pair of 2015 Cardinals tickets, Guest Coach for a Match, a one-hour practice session with the team, a German Beer experience worth $300, and much more.

Fresh Faces
The 2014 volleyball squad features a total of 15 student-athletes. Of the 15, 11 are in their first two years with the program. The Redhawks also carry six freshmen on the roster. Everyone on the roster has officially seen time on the floor with many of the young players contributing regularly for the Redhawks.

Record Against
The Redhawks hold a 7-1 advantage over the Roos. The Redhawks' only loss came in 2012 when the Roos swept the Redhawks. The Redhawks won in a close five-set match a season ago on Sept. 18 at home. The matchup dates back to Oct. 6, 1990.

Setting Up
The Redhawks will play the 2014 home opener Sunday at 1 p.m. against regional rival Southern Illinois at Houck Field House. The Redhawks will then turn their attention to Ohio Valley Conference play as they prepare to take on the undefeated Racers of Murray State on Sept. 26 followed by Austin Peay on Sept. 27.
