CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri (10-34, 2-20) dropped a pair of one-run games to Ohio Valley Conference West Division rival Murray State (30-21, 16-8) Saturday afternoon at the Southeast Softball Complex. The Redhawks lost by scores of 5-4 and 1-0.

Southeast used a two-out bases clearing double by Chelsea Smith to take a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning of game one. The Redhawks loaded the bases when Renee Terry reached on an infield hit, Savannah Carpenter singled to center and Haylee Krack was hit by a pitch.

MSU, after coming up empty with the bases loaded in the first and third innings, broke through to take the lead in the top of the fourth.

Cayla Levins drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second when Jocelynn Rodgers' fly ball went off center fielder Kelsey Gass' glove. Erica Howard followed with a single before Shelbey Miller knocked everybody in on her double down the left field line. Miller later scored the go-ahead run on a bunt single by Alexa Becker, giving the Racers a 4-3 edge.

MSU tacked on one more run when Mo Ramsey hit a bunt single and came around to score on Becker's ensuing triple to right in the sixth.

Southeast left both the tying and go-ahead runs on base during its final at-bat in the seventh.

With one out, Meaghan Touchette walked and went to second when Gass grounded out to first. On the next play, Nicole Deering reached on an error. Touchette, who advanced to third on the miscue, touched home on a fielder's choice. Mason Robinson then struck out Renee Terry to end the game, stranding Jamie Woodworth at first and Deering at second.

Robinson (11-8) picked up the win, striking out four and walking one in seven innings. She also gave up six hits and four runs.

Hannah Durham (2-11) took the loss. Durham allowed 10 hits and five runs, while walking four in seven innings.

MSU outhit Southeast, 10-6, with Becker going 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI to lead the way.

Terry led the Redhawks with two hits, while Carpenter, Smith, Duffe and Deering contributed one apiece.

Howard scored the only run on a passed ball in the nightcap.

Howard doubled down the left field line and moved to third on an error before touching home when Keaira Schilling's pitch went off Smith's glove. Both teams were scoreless through four innings until Howard scored with two outs in the fifth.

CheyAnne Gaskey and Schilling hooked up in a nice pitcher's duel.

Gaskey (13-11) struck out five, walked two and allowed just three hits in seven innings en route to her shutout victory.

Meanwhile, Schilling fanned five, issued three walks and gave up six hits in seven innings. She tossed six scoreless innings, as the lone run against her was unearned.

Carpenter, Krack and Smith combined for Southeast's quiet three hits. The Redhawks also did not have a runner get past second base for the entire game.

Miller and Mo Ramsey each went 2-for-4 at the top of the Racers lineup.

Southeast concludes its season with one final game against MSU Sunday at 1 p.m., CT. Seniors Alexis Anderson, Gass and Terry will be honored prior to first pitch.
