Live Stats Game 3CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri (10-32, 2-18) wraps up its season with a three-game home series against Murray State (28-21, 14-8) this weekend. The Redhawks and Racers open the series with a 1 p.m., CT, doubleheader Saturday at the Southeast Softball Complex.
Southeast, which has won two in a row after sweeping Missouri Baptist in a twin bill earlier this week, is 4-7 all-time against MSU. The Redhawks split a double dip with the Racers a year ago, winning, 9-3, and losing, 8-1, in Murray.
Savannah Carpenter leads Southeast and is currently second in the Ohio Valley Conference with a .422 batting average. Carpenter also ranks second in the OVC with a .672 slugging percentage and is on pace to become the second Redhawk to hit over .400 in a season in as many years. Prior to this season,
Alexis Anderson hit .403 during the 2013 campaign. The last time Southeast had a .400 hitter in back-to-back seasons was 1998 (Kim Palmer hit .413; Jenny Oermann hit .410) and 1999 (Oermann hit .409). Additionally,
Haylee Krack leads the team and stands third in the OVC with 10 home runs.
MSU enters the weekend on a four-game winning streak. The Racers won nine of their last 12 contests and are presently third in the OVC West Division. Mo Ramsey is hitting a team-best .335 with 17 runs scored, two doubles, a triple and 13 RBI in 49 starts this year. As a team, MSU ranks third with a .277 batting average.
