The Redhawks host East Division foes Belmont (9-20, 3-6) Saturday and Tennessee State (14-23, 2-7) Sunday. Start time for both days is Noon, CT, at the Southeast Softball Complex.
Southeast is 1-3 against the OVC East Division this season. The Redhawks enter the weekend looking to bounce back from a 2-1 series loss to Austin Peay (Mar. 29-30).
Junior third baseman
Haylee Krack, this week's OVC Player of the Week, hit .750 with two home runs, four runs scored and six RBI against the Lady Govs. She hit safely in six of her first seven at-bats of the series as the Redhawks split a doubleheader with APSU on Mar. 29. Krack hit a solo home run for her team's only run in the first game and followed that up by going 3-for-4 with another homer and five RBI in Southeast's 13-4 victory. She is hitting .476 and stands tied for second in RBI (9) and home runs (3) against league opponents this season. Additionally, Krack is third in the OVC with seven home runs overall.
Jamie Woodworth has reached base in nine-consecutive games. Woodworth's current streak is the longest of any kind for the Redhawks this year. She collected at least one hit in seven of her last eight contests and doubled in each of her previous three starts.
As a team, Southeast ranks fifth in the OVC with a .256 batting average.
Belmont and TSU are among three teams in the conference with 20 or more losses this season. The Bruins and Tigers are fourth and fifth in the OVC East, respectively. Belmont, although winning its series against Tennessee Tech last weekend, dropped seven of its last nine contests. TSU, which was swept by OVC leader Jacksonville State, lost eight of its last 10. The Tigers are last in the conference in fielding. TSU is coached by Jeff Dabney, who spent two years as an assistant at Southeast before taking over as the Tigers head coach in July, 2010.
Southeast is 8-8 all-time against Belmont and 53-8 vs. TSU. The Redhawks have won eight-straight games against the Tigers.
