Live Stats Game 3CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri (7-22, 2-9) heads to Ohio Valley Conference West Division co-leader SIU Edwardsville (17-18, 9-3) for a three-game series, beginning with a 1 p.m., CT, doubleheader Saturday.
Southeast, which has dropped eight of its last nine, is looking to snap a five-game losing streak.
Infielder
Savannah Carpenter enters the weekend on a five-game hitting streak. Carpenter leads the OVC in batting average with a .450 clip. She raised her average by 17 points last weekend, hitting .538 (7-for-13) in her last four starts. Carpenter collected multiple-hits in three-straight games and leads the Redhawks with eight doubles. As a team, Southeast is hitting .250.
SIUE has won five of its previous six contests and is 6-2 against fellow West Division opponents this year. The Cougars are led by Rachel Smiley, who is hitting .303 with 12 runs scored, four doubles, a home run and 16 RBI. SIUE is tied for first with UT Martin atop the OVC West Division standings.
Southeast won its series against SIUE the last time it visited Edwardsville in 2011. Each of the last five meetings between these teams were played in Cape Girardeau. The Cougars outscored the Redhawks, 33-2, in a three-game sweep a year ago.
