Live Stats Game 3CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri (6-16, 1-3) resumes Ohio Valley Conference action when it hosts Austin Peay (14-15, 3-3) in a three-game series this weekend. The Redhawks and Lady Govs will play a doubleheader at 1 p.m., CT, Saturday and conclude the series with 1 p.m. matchup Sunday.
Southeast, which begins a seven-game homestand, is 57-16 all-time against APSU in its NCAA Division I history. The Redhawks, currently sixth in the OVC West Division, face their first inner divisional foe this season.
This weekend's series features two of the league's top hitters in
Savannah Carpenter and Lauren de Castro. Carpenter ranks third in the OVC with a .444 clip, while de Castro is fourth with a .427 batting average. Carpenter has reached base in each of her last six games and de Castro was named the league's Player of the Week on Mar. 24.
Southeast the week to rest after playing nine games in six days over its spring break. The Redhawks ended a season-long seven-game losing streak during that time when it beat Eastern Kentucky, 5-3, on Mar. 22.
Meanwhile, APSU has heated up to win seven of its last eight contests. The Lady Govs, however, saw their season-long seven-game winning streak end in a one-run loss vs. Tennessee State (Mar. 23). APSU is presently fourth in the OVC West Division.
