Tournament Central Page CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Southeast Missouri softball team is slated to host Missouri State and Saint Louis in the All-Missouri Cancer Classic. Teams will face off in three games Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
Missouri State and Saint Louis will square off in game one, followed by Southeast Missouri and Missouri State at 1:15 p.m. The Redhawks and Saint Louis will close the tournament at 3:15.
The Redhawks are 4-5 heading in to the tournament. Southeast went 3-2 opening weekend at the Mardi Gras Classic but went 1-3 last weekend at Memphis. Southeast is currently sporting the third-best team batting average in the Ohio Valley Conference (.314).
Savannah Carpenter's .440 batting average is among the best in the league, while
Haylee Krack (.423) and
Chelsea Smith (.409) also rank among the top.
Missouri State (10-3) and Saint Louis (6-3) will all be looking to improve on good starts to the 2014 season.
Southeast Missouri will also host a four-team tournament next weekend, as IUPUI, Northern Iowa, and South Dakota State will all participate in the three-day tournament.
