SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - Southeast Missouri (4-5) was outscored 17-3 in two games during the final day of the Blues City Classic Sunday. The Redhawks lost, 11-2, to Ball State (7-2) and, 6-1, to Memphis (7-5).
Southeast finished with a record of 1-3 at this year's Blues City Classic. The Redhawks were eighth in the 11-team tournament.
Ball State 11, Southeast Missouri 2 (6 innings)
Ball State pounded out 15 hits and had all but four of its runs come from the top three hitters in its lineup to key an 11-2 win over Southeast Missouri. Loren Cihlar, Emily Dabkowski and Jennifer Gilbert produced seven runs on six hits to lift the Cardinals to their seventh win of the season.
Southeast scored first on a RBI-infield single by
Nicole Deering to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning.
BSU, however, responded with seven runs over the next two innings, including five in the third.
Briana Evans sparked a one-out rally with a base hit out of the nine-hole and Cihlar followed with a single. Both runners moved into scoring position when Cihlar stole third. Dabkowski then singled home both Evans and Cihlar. Gilbert added a hit on the next play and Dabkowski scored. Audrey Bickel's two-RBI single pushed the Cardinals led to 5-1.
Two more runs came home for BSU in the fourth when Cihlar scored on Dabkowski's hit to right and Gilbert scored on a fielder's choice, making it 7-1 in favor of the Cardinals.
Jamie Woodworth's sacrifice fly knocked in
Savannah Carpenter to narrow BSU's lead to 7-2 in the top of the fifth, but BSU answered with another four tallies to polish off its win in the sixth.
Aubrey Denno (2-1) suffered her first loss of the season. Denno lasted just 2.1 innings, giving up five runs on six hits and striking out one.

Hannah Durham and
Lindsey Patterson pitched the rest of the way out of the Redhawks bullpen.
Kelsey Schifferdecker (4-0) remained undefeated after working five innings. Schifferdecker scattered seven hits and allowed two runs, while striking out three.
Deering, Carpenter and
Haylee Krack each collected two hits for Southeast.
Meanwhile, Cihlar had a hit and scored two runs, Dabkowski went 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI, and Gilbert went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI to lead the Cardinals. Bickel posted multiple hits, as well.
Additionally, Southeast left 10 runners on base.
Memphis 6, Southeast Missouri 1
Ellen Roberts pitched a complete game, recorded six strikeouts and did not allow an earned run to lead Memphis to a 6-1 win over Southeast Missouri.
Memphis staked Roberts to a 5-0 lead after scoring three times in the first and twice in the third.
Ijiah Hargrove walked and quickly stole second to get into scoring position in the top of the first. Hannah Harrell laid down a sacrifice-bunt and Hargrove went to third. Brittany Vaughn hit into a fielder's choice on the next play and Hargrove scored. Calli Irvin delivered a single to load the bases and Cierra Mangum walked, allowing Harrell to score. Vaughn came home on Kelly Braman's sacrifice fly to give the Tigers a 3-0 advantage.
Irvin extended Memphis' lead with a two-run home run in the third.
Lindsey Patterson singled to right field to score
Renee Terry for the Redhawks only run in the bottom of the third.
The Tigers then added an unearned run in the top of the sixth to cap the win.
Roberts improved to 3-2 on the season.

Southeast had four hits with two by Patterson. She went 2-for-3 with the Redhawks lone RBI. Patterson earned Second-Team All-Tournament honors.
Irvin went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI to lead Memphis. She was one of six Tigers with a hit.
The Redhawks return to Cape Girardeau to host the All-Missouri Cancer Classic on Mar. 1-2. Southeast, Missouri State, Kansas City and Saint Louis will participate in this year's event.
