Series HistoryTennessee Tech leads its all-time series against Southeast, 13-9. Nine of the last 11 meetings between these teams have been decided by seven points or less. The Golden Eagles won six of the previous eight matchups, including a 41-16 victory at Houck Stadium last season. The Redhawks are 3-7 all-time at Tucker Stadium, last winning there on Nov. 15, 2003 (24-20).
Approaching 2,000Senior quarterback
Kyle Snyder is closing in on 2,000 passing yards this season. Snyder has completed 144-of-244 passes for 1,911 yards and 15 touchdowns in nine starts under center. He is in position to become the first Redhawk quarterback to throw for over 2,000 yards in a season since Houston Lillard had 2,067 in 2008. Snyder ranks third in the Ohio Valley Conference in passing (212.3 ypg) and second in total offense (266.9 ypg).
McRoberts Expected to ReturnRedhawk wide receiver
Paul McRoberts could make his return at Tennessee Tech this weekend. McRoberts was in uniform on the sidelines at Eastern Kentucky (Oct. 25), but did not play. He has been sidelined with a Lisfranc fracture in his right foot that he suffered early in the third quarter against Southeastern Louisiana on Sept. 20. Despite missing the last six weeks, McRoberts still ranks second in the Ohio Valley Conference with six touchdown receptions.
Garrett's Season EndsLinebacker
Roper Garrett suffered a season-ending injury when he broke his leg at Eastern Kentucky on Oct. 25. Garrett had six tackles against the Colonels and finished with 96 in nine starts this year.
Sanders Notches Career-High in SacksTravis Sanders recorded a career-high three sacks for a loss of 21 yards against Eastern Kentucky (Oct. 25). Sanders, who is tied for first on the team in sacks this season, became the first player to get three sacks in a game since defensive end Brandon Bohnert accomplished the feat vs. UT Martin on Oct. 30, 2004.
Lloyd on the MoveIn addition to being Southeast's top receiver with 630 yards on 46 catches,
Peter Lloyd is making a big impact on special teams. Lloyd has piled up 100 or more kick return yards in two of his last three games. He ran back three kicks for 100 yards at Murray State (Oct. 11) and followed that up with seven returns for 162 yards against Eastern Illinois (Oct. 18). Those efforts have lifted Lloyd to second in the Ohio Valley Conference in kick return average (27.2 ypr).
First 100-Yard Game for SnyderIn addition to throwing for 245 yards and a touchdown,
Kyle Snyder also ran for 116 yards and another two scores in his last start against Eastern Kentucky (Oct. 25). The 100-yard rushing game was the first of Snyder's career. He has now scored two rushing TDs three times this season. Snyder was the first Southeast quarterback to rush for over 100 yards in a game since
Scott Lathrop had 119 at Murray State on Nov. 17, 2012.
50-Yard ManRyan McCrum has made a field goal over 50 yards in four of the Redhawks last six games. Most recently, he kicked a 51-yarder in the first quarter against Eastern Illinois (Oct. 18). He owns all of the Ohio Valley Conference's longest field goals (51, 52, 54, 55) this year. Additionally, he has not missed an extra point (29-of-29) this season and leads the league in PAT kicking percentage and field goals (13-of-16). McCrum leads the team and is tied for second in the OVC (scoring kick) in scoring with 68 points in nine games. He is one of two kickers in all of Division I football with four field goals over 50 yards this season. The other is West Virginia's Josh Lambert.
PAT StreakRyan McCrum has made 33-consecutive PATs dating back to last season. McCrum last missed a PAT with 11:33 left in the first quarter at Jacksonville State on Nov. 23, 2013. He is tied for second in the Ohio Valley Conference with 29 extra points in 2014. McCrum made 33-of-36 PATs in his career.
Wild Play Goes for 63 YardsRunning back
DeMichael Jackson intercepted Jared McClain's Hail Mary pass on the final play of the first half at Eastern Kentucky (Oct. 25). Jackson ran 27 yards before pitching the ball to
Travis Sanders. Sanders then latereled to
David Coley. The play resulted in a 63-yard interception return, tying for the fifth-longest in school history.
Injuries Adding UpStarting linebacker
Roper Garrett sustained a season-ending leg injury at Eastern Kentucky (Oct. 25). In all, the Redhawks have had nine starters hampered by injuries this season.
Three-Game SkidSoutheast is looking to end a season-long three-game losing streak when it squares off against Tennessee Tech Saturday. The Redhawks fell to Murray State, 44-41, Eastern Illinois, 52-13, and Eastern Kentucky, 33-21, during that stretch.
Another Homecoming DateThe Redhawks have been accustomed to playing teams on Homecoming this season. In fact, Saturday marks the third time Southeast will play a Homecoming game on the road. The Redhawks, who are 0-2 in such contests, visited Murray State (Oct. 11) and Eastern Kentucky (Oct. 25) during their Homecoming weekends.
About Tennessee TechSince Tennessee Tech handed nationally-ranked Eastern Kentucky its only loss of the season, the Golden Eagles have dropped two-straight games. In those contests, TTU lost by a combined score of 90-13. Jacksonville State defeated the Golden Eagles, 49-3, and Eastern Illinois beat TTU, 41-10. As a team, TTU is eighth in the OVC in scoring, averaging just 17 points a game. The Golden Eagles are also giving up 446.6 yards per contest, third-most in the league. Additionally, TTU has turned the ball over 25 times for second-most in the conference. Special teams wise, the Golden Eagles have the OVC's top punt returner in Ladarius Vanlier.
