OXFORD, Ala. – The Southeast Missouri cross country teams competed at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships Saturday. The women's team earned a fourth-place finish while the men's team finished sixth.
Rebekah Lawson earned First-Team All-OVC honors with a seventh-place finish while Gloria Westlake earned Second-Team accolades with a 12th-place finish.
This is Lawson's fourth top-ten finish of her career at the OVC Championships. Lawson was the runner-up as a junior, seventh as a sophomore, and sixth as a freshman; earning First Team honors each season.
Lawson finished seventh in the field of 88 runners. Lawson turned in her seventh-place finish in 17:42.10. Westlake finished 15 seconds behind Lawson in 12th-place with a time of 17:57.30. Southeast had two other runners in the top-25. Megan Parks turned in a 17th-place finish in 18:12.69. Angela Sumner rounded out the top-25 for the Redhawks with a 22nd-place finish with a time of 18:20.19. Mary Dohogne finished 38th in 18:49.36. Sydney O'Brien (44th, 19:02.93) and Kristen Richardet (47th, 19:08.19) finished just seconds apart. Lindsey Seabaugh rounded out the pack for Southeast's women's team in 53rd-place in 19:20.18.
On the men's side, Shane Brown was the top-finisher for Southeast. Brown finished 26th with a time of 25:30.60. Nathan Cook (25:50.62) and Marc Maton (25:58.91) finished in 32nd and 34th-places. Tyler Beaman (26:11.66), Ryan Anderson (26:12.48), and Tyson Stoverink (26:16.73) finished back-to-back-to-back in 42nd, 43rd, and 44th-places, respectively. Tyler Holmes (50th, 26:32.57) and Colten Strotheide (52nd, 26:42.65) rounded out the race for the men.
The Redhawks will participate in the NCAA Midwest Regional Nov. 14 in Peoria, Illinois.
