RICHMOND, Ky. – The Southeast Missouri volleyball team fell to Eastern Kentucky in four sets Friday evening (12-25, 25-14, 14-25, 25-18).

Southeast Missouri falls to 5-13 overall on the season and 1-4 in Ohio Valley Conference play. EKU improves to 13-7, 4-1 OVC.

EKU owned the first set as they downed the Redhawks by a score of 25-12. The Colonels put up five-straight points to start the match and rolled their way to the opening set victory.

The Redhawks rebounded and did so in a big way in set two with a 25-14 set win to tie up the match at a set apiece. The first half of the set remained well-fought but a 6-0 run by Southeast put the Redhawks up 18-11. A number of Colonel errors followed in order for Southeast to tie up the match.Â

An 8-0 run in set three gave EKU a hefty lead early in the set that was too much for the Redhawks to overcome. EKU took the third set, 25-14, and a 2-0 lead in the match.

The Redhawks came out hot on the Colonels tails in set four as both teams fought very closely in the beginning of the set. Tied at 10, an 8-1 run opened a big lead for EKU. The Redhawks fought hard to chip away at the EKU lead but fell short as the Colonels took set four, 25-18, and the match, 3-1.

Kelsey Keeve led the Redhawks offensively with seven kills while hitting .538 in the match.
Andrea Baylin and
Taylor Masterson each contributed six kills.

Baylin had 12 digs in the match and is only 10 away from reaching 1,000 in her career. Â Libero
Jade Mortimer had a career-high 24 digs in the match.

Attack errors were a curse for both teams Friday evening as Southeast had 22 and EKU had 25. EKU also had nine service errors but made up for it with eight service aces.

The Redhawks will visit Morehead State Saturday. First serve is slated for 4 p.m., CT.Â
