Redhawks Topped by Lady Govs in Overtime, 1-0

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Sophomore MF Mary Ruth Locastro broke a scoreless tie with an overtime goal to lift Austin Peay (3-9, 2-2) over Southeast Missouri (5-5, 2-2) on Friday evening at Houck Stadium. Locastro scored off of a rebound to account for the game's lone goal.
 
The teams played to a 0-0 tie in regulation with the Redhawks offense controlling the ball for most of the contest. Southeast outshot Austin Peay 13-4 for the game, including an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal.
 
Locastro recorded a game-high three of the shots on goal for the Lady Govs. GK Nikki Filippone earned the shutout with seven saves.
 
Senior F Breana Beine tied for a game-best with three shots for Southeast. Fellow senior F Kasey Crowden and sophomore F Natasha Minor both finished with two shots. Minor had a shot hit the crossbar late in the match.
 
Freshman GK Kindra Lierz registered three saves. She held her opponent scoreless in regulation for the fifth time this season.
 
The Redhawks travel to Belmont for a 2 p.m. Ohio Valley Conference matchup in Nashville on Sunday.
