CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. –
Erin Shulman scored 22 seconds into the second half to give the Southeast Missouri soccer team a 1-1 tie at Austin Peay on Sunday afternoon.

The Redhawks (2-4-2, 1-0-1 Ohio Valley) are unbeaten in their last three contests while the Lady Govs are 6-1-2 and 1-0-1 in OVC play.

Physical play in the 18-yard box drew a penalty kick for Austin Peay in the 40th minute. The Lady Govs called on reigning OVC Player of the Year Tatiana Ariza, who finished the play to put APSU up 1-0.

That goal stood up at halftime, though Southeast held a 4-3 advantage in shots during the first half. Southeast's best opportunity came in the 24th minute when Jennifer Antonacci placed a dangerous shot labeled for the upper 90 that Nikki Filippone made an acrobatic save to keep the Redhawks off the board.

Southeast wasted no time getting going in the second half as Shulman scored on a nifty give-and-go from Natasha Minor 22 seconds into the final regulation frame. That goal was the sophomore's second of the season with Minor picking up her second helper of the year.

"I am happy with our performance this weekend," Southeast head coach Heather Nelson. "Our response after giving up the penalty kick was very good. We started the second half very well. Austin Peay is an excellent team that passes well and moves great off the ball. To keep them off the board in free play is a testament to our team defense today.

"Erin scored a beautiful soccer goal. All of our forwards are growing with each game and they are starting to click at a high level. Erin did a great job at both ends of the field today."

Shulman's shot was the lone attempt for Southeast in the half, one where APSU finished with an 8-1 advantage. Ashton Aubuchon made five saves to keep the score tied and send the contest to overtime. She also got help from Paige Luehmann in the 61st minute. Megan Sanchez' shot eluded Aubuchon wide, but Luehmann slid in to stop the ball from crossing the goal line.

The Lady Govs took the only two shots of the extra frame, but Aubuchon stopped the only one on goal and the contest went to double overtime. In the final session, APSU had a 3-1 shot advantage, but Southeast held the Lady Govs off the board to secure a point in the conference standings.

APSU outshot Southeast 16-6, including 13-2 after halftime. The Lady Govs also took 10 corner kicks and held the Redhawks without a corner.

"Austin Peay challenged our young defense today," Nelson said. "Ashton came up with some quality saves and made good plays on set pieces. We got a lot of experience defending corners and hopefully that helps us going forward."

Aubuchon finished up with seven saves on the day, logging all 110 minutes. APSU split between Filippone and Haylee Shoaff. Filippone stopped two shots in the first half while Shoaff made one save on two shots in the second half and overtime.

Southeast is back in action on Friday when it hosts Lindenwood for a non-conference match at Houck Stadium. Opening kickoff is at 6:30 p.m.
