CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri (8-8, 1-1 OVC) dropped a tough match to Ohio Valley Conference West Division foe SIUE (5-10, 1-1 OVC) in four sets (20-25, 25-20, 23-25, 23-25) Saturday afternoon.

The Redhawks dropped a close first set to fall behind early, 20-25. Southeast was out-killed in the set 14-9 and tallied six errors and hit a low .088 as a team. The score was tied a total of 12 times in the opening stanza.

Southeast was able to turn it around in the second set, coming out on top, 25-20.
Emily Coon,
Taylor Masterson, and
Colleen Yarber all tallied four kills in the set. Coon hit .571 in the set. The set was another a closely fought set as the score was tied another six times.

Both teams struggled in the third set, combining for 14 errors and two ball handling errors but SIUE came out on top in the end, 25-23.

The fourth set proved to be another very close set as the score was tied another nine times with four lead changes. Both teams hit well, each hitting .200 or better; however, they both combined for another 13 errors. Tied at 23, SIUE was able to pull ahead at the right moment to seal the match.

Masterson hit an impressive .348 in the game, tallying 10 kills and posting five blocks. Yarber completed the match with 14 kills with
Andrea Baylin adding 11 of her own. The OVC leaders in blocking continued to impress on the net, out-blocking SIUE 12-4. The Redhawk's leader in service aces,
Jade Mortimer, added three to her season totals against SIUE.

Cori Harris posted 17 kills for the Cougars with an impressive .341 attack percentage. Kelsey Augustine added 10 kills and hit .471. Alicia Streetar tallied 12 kills on her own for the Cougars.

Southeast Missouri returns to action Tuesday as they hit the road for another OVC West Division showdown with UT Martin at 6:00 p.m.
