Her teammate, Gina Fabbro also has 10 points on five goals. Looking Back
Illinois State/Drake Recap – Two-time Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year Rachel Tejada notched a hat trick as Illinois State downed Southeast 4-0 on Sept. 13. Two days later, the Redhawks were minutes away from being shut out for the fourth-straight match. The offense woke up in the nick of time as
Natasha Minor scored with 5:20 left in regulation to force overtime at Drake. With time winding down in the first extra session, Minor sprung
Erin Shulman behind the Bulldogs' defense for a goal with 17 seconds remaining in overtime. That tally gave Southeast its first win of the season and marked the first time it scored more than one goal since Oct. 26, 2012. Freshman
Lauren Meyer played the second half and overtime and stopped all nine shots that came her way to allow Southeast to come back.
News & Notes
Strong in Relief – Trailing 1-0 at halftime at Drake, Southeast was looking for a spark from someone. Freshman goalkeeper
Lauren Meyer provided just that. She made eight second-half saves to hold DU to a single goal and allow an opportunity for a comeback. She turned away one more shot in overtime as the Redhawks notched their first win of the season in the extra session. The Germantown, Wis., native has played parts of three matches off the bench and has stopped all 12 shots she's faced.
Moving Up – Ashton Aubuchon's made 11 saves in two contests during the Redhawks' road trip to Illinois State and Drake. Those stops pushed her career total to 196, the third most in school history. She is also in the Redhawks' top five in career solo shutouts (second; 16) wins (third; 21) and goalkeeper minutes played (third; 4,098). Aubuchon currently leads the OVC with 7.17 saves per match.
Go Play, Kids – Southeast's freshman class has been learning on the job this season. Five of the eight freshmen have appeared in at least five contests and started on at least three occasions.
Natasha Minor leads the team with five points (2 G, 1 A) and
Christina Rohde has played a team-high 559 minutes on defense. Meanwhile,
Jennifer Antonacci (457 minutes),
Abby Klintworth (326) and
Kaitlin Kuznacic (293) have all seen significant minutes. Even goalkeeper
Lauren Meyer has 12 saves in three appearances.
She's Back – Sophomore forward
Erin Shulman had a tough time finding the net in the Redhawks' first five contests, but came through in a big way at Drake two weeks ago. Shulman notched her second-career assist on
Natasha Minor's tying goal in the 85th minute. The sophomore came through in the clutch during overtime, scoring with 17 seconds remaining to give Southeast the win. Shulman's three points on Sept. 15 were her most since tallying four points on two goals at Austin Peay on Sept. 23, 2011.
