CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – One week is all that separates the Southeast Missouri soccer team from conference play. In a final week of preparation, the Redhawks (0-3-1) travel to Missouri Valley Conference foes Illinois State (Friday; 4 p.m.) and Drake (Sunday; 1 p.m.)
Quick Kicks

•The Redhawks are trying to snap a nine-match winless streak (0-7-2) in non-conference contests this weekend.
On Tap
About Illinois State (2-4) – Three of the Redbirds' six contests have come against teams that played in last year's NCAA Tournament (Miami (OH), Wisconsin and Illinois) while all but one currently sports a winning record. ISU scored two minutes into its tilt at Texas on Sunday before dropping a 2-1 decision. The Redbirds' attack is led by two-time MVC Player of the Year Rachel Tejada, whose seven points (2 goals, 3 assists) are tied for the team lead with Hannah Leinert (3 G, 1 A). Aryn Newsom has received most of the minutes in goal and holds a 2.89 goals against average.
About Drake Â(0-4-2) – The Bulldogs are searching for their first victory of the season, though four of their six contests have been either ties or one-goal decisions. Paige Dusek accounts for five of DU's seven goals while Andrea Swanson (2.33 GAA, .667 save%) has played every minute in goal.
Looking Back
Arkansas State Recap – Southeast's offense showed some signs of life by firing 17 shots at ASU, but both keepers stood tall in a 0-0 tie at Houck Stadium on Friday night.
Ashton Aubuchon made eight saves to record her 16th-career solo shutout, giving her sole possession of second place on the program's career list. Southeast had quality chances throughout, but couldn't solve ASU's Amanda Lee, who finished with 10 saves of her own.
News & Notes
Keeping Busy – With Southeast figuring its defensive rotation, senior goalkeeper
Ashton Aubuchon has plenty faced plenty of shots in the early going. The Florissant, Mo., native has started all four contests and faced 42 total shots in 362 minutes. Among qualified Ohio Valley Conference keepers, Aubuchon ranks second with 8.0 saves per match.
Moving Up – Ashton Aubuchon's eight-save effort in a 0-0 tie against Arkansas State on Sept. 6 gave the senior her first solo shutout of the season. It also pushed her further up the school's record book, giving her 16 solo shutouts (second) in her career. She is also in the Redhawks' top five in career saves (third; 185) wins (third; 21) and goalkeeper minutes played (third; 3,987).
Defense Progressing – Some growing pains were expected on the Southeast defense seeing as the Redhawks opened up the year with four new starters at the position. That inexperience plus some stiff competition saw the Redhawks outscored 10-1 and allowing 22.7 shots per match in the first three contests of the year. Southeast's defense stabilized against Arkansas State as the Redhawks yielded 13 shots and shut out the Red Wolves in a 0-0 tie.
On the 'Rohde' Again – One of the brightest spots of the first four matches is the emergence of freshman defender
Christina Rohde. The St. Louis native leads all field players with 369 minutes at center back and has even chipped in an assist offensively. She has played every minute in three of the Redhawks' four contests.
