Celebrate Seniors
Prior to Sunday's season finale, the Redhawks will celebrate five seniors: Leah Becker, Simone Patterson, Xia Wilson, Taylor Cowan, and Kaitlin Zink. These ladies will be honored, along with their families, for the time they have spent with Southeast Missouri softball.
Scouting the Skyhawks
UT Martin (31-18, 12-10 OVC) will look to fine-tune their game as they close out the regular season and prepare for the OVC Tournament later this week. The Skyhawks are led by Kenzi Tate's .340 batting average, 10 home runs and 42 RBI. Lauren Smith is hitting a respectable .302 with 10 home runs and 29 RBIs. Casey Vincent (13-8, 2.38 ERA) leads the team with 25 starts, 17 complete games and two saves. Vincent has struck out 113 batters while allowing 38 walks.
Series History
The Redhawks hold a 51-34 advantage over the Skyhawks all-time. Last season, the Redhawks dropped both ends of a doubleheader in Martin, Tenn. on March 21 and lost a single game to the Skyhawks eight days later in Cape Girardeau, 2-3.
Last Time Out
The Redhawks welcomed the Saint Louis Billikens to town on Wednesday for a single game. The Billikens prevailed 5-1 in the mid-week contest. Southeast traveled to West division foe Austin Peay for a three-game series Sunday and Monday. The Lady Govs swept the Redhawks in the three-game series.
31 Years of Excellence
With Thursday's win over the Southern Illinois Salukis, Lana Richmond recorded her 600th NCAA Division I victory. Richmond is in her 31st season as the head coach of the Redhawks. Coach Richmond's career record at Southeast is 8723-670-2. The five-time Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year currently ranks 40th in victories of all NCAA Division I head coaches.
Montgomery Bank Athlete of the Week
Alexis Anderson was named the Montgomery Bank Female Athlete of the Week for the third time this season last week. Anderson hit a team-best .636 (7-for-11), boasted a 1.091 slugging percentage and recorded a .636 on-base percentage in four games last week. A native of Buford, Ga., Anderson had three of her hits in game two of Sunday's doubleheader at Austin Peay. Anderson boasted a team-best 10-game hitting streak, which was snapped Monday against the Lady Govs.
