COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Southeast Missouri (11-23, 3-9) softball lost two games of a doubleheader Sunday to the Tennessee Tech (16-17, 6-5) Golden Eagles, 9-1, 4-0. Southeast was swept in all four games this weekend after dropping both games Saturday against Jacksonville.
Tennessee Tech 9, Southeast Missouri 1 (six innings)
Tennessee Tech jumped out to a 3-0 lead early with a home run to right center from Angi Sakamoto in the second inning.
The Golden Eagles threatened in the third loading the bases with a lead-off walk and two Redhawk errors with no out. Southeast worked out of the inning with a pop-up to second, a fielder's choice to get the lead runner at home, and another fielder's choice by Kaitlin Zink to get out of the jam.
Tennessee Tech added two more runs on a two-RBI single by Hannah Eldridge, 5-0 Golden Eagles after four innings.
Starting pitcher Taylor Cowan helped her own cause in the sixth inning with a solo home run down the left field line to narrow the Golden Eagle lead to 5-1.
For the second day in a row, Southeast lost in walk-off home run fashion. Olivia Bennett drilled a three-run home run to center field to take a 9-1 lead on Southeast to nab the win.
The Golden Eagles outhit Southeast 8-4 in game one with four Redhawk batters contributing hits.
Bennett and Sakamoto each had two hits for Tech including three-run home runs and two runs scored each.
Three Redhawk pitchers saw action in game one with Cowan (6-16) starting the game and going 4.0 innings in the circle. Cowan gave up five runs on four hits and struck three batters out.
Taylor Ketchum (11-7) recorded the complete game victory giving up one run on Cowan's home run. Ketchum struck out one Redhawk batter and walked two.

Tennessee Tech took an early lead in the first inning for the second game in a row on an RBI base hit up the middle to score the lead-off hitter Melody Christian.
The Golden Eagles added three more in the second, scoring first on a bases loaded error and again with a two-RBI single from Kendall Hooper, 4-0 after two innings.
Both teams held each other scoreless the rest of the game as Tennessee Tech held on to shutout the Redhawks 4-0.
Tech held Southeast to only three hits in the contest as the Golden Eagles had eight.
Redhawk hits came from Lindsey Patterson, Chelsea Smith, and Renee Terry.
Cortney Fry, Bennett, and Hooper all had two hits in the game.
Cowan suffered her second loss of the day, fourth of the weekend, in game two. Cowan pitched the complete game, striking out three batters and walking two.
Claudia Harke (4-4) recorded the complete game shut out giving up only three hits while striking out five batters and only walking one.
The Redhawks open an eight game home stand next weekend as they host West division rival Eastern Illinois in a three-game series. Saturday will feature the Redhawks and Panthers in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at the Southeast Softball Complex.
