The senior sprinter won the 100m and broke her own school record in the 200m dash on Saturday.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Jerika Lewis broke her own school record in the 200m, highlighting a strong day for Southeast Missouri at the Joey Haines Invitational.
Lewis crossed the finish line in 23.91, breaking her own school record by one-hundredth of a second. The senior also won the 100m (career-best 11.84) to highlight five first-place finishes for the women's team.
The Redhawks' other event winners for the women were Rebekah Lawson in the 5000m (18:36.99), Jill Schnurbusch in the pole vault (season-high 12-11 1/2) and Maria Trowbridge in her first-career 3000m steeplechase (11:46.28).
Other notable performances on the women's side included the 4x400m relay team's runner-up finish. The group of Jovannie Spears, Cheyenne Tunti, Alyssa Rebecca and Lewis crossed the line in 3:56.65, a new season best. Courtney Gapelu also posted a second-place finish in the shot put, throwing 49-5 1/2 on her fifth throw.
In addition to Lawson's 5000m win, the Redhawks placed four of the top five runners in the distance race. Madalyn Stichnot took third (19:25.39), Melanie Lacy placed fourth (19:32.66) and Lindsey Seabaugh came in fifth (19:38.40). Gloria Westlake (second; 11:49.71) and Jennifer Govero (third; 12:09.42) also posted top-three finishes in the 3000m steeplechase.
The men saw Reggie Miller win the high jump after the sophomore tied his season best by clearing 6-8. He also dwarfed his career best in the triple jump, clearing a career-best 50-2. That leap was nearly a foot and a half further than his previous best from the indoor season. Kenny Hosp joined Miller in the top three of the high jump, placing third with a high of 6-2.
In other notable field performances, Blake Carter took second in the long jump (season-high 24-8 1/2). Kevin Farley was another Southeast runner up, the sophomore launched a season-best throw of 57-8 1/2 to claim silver in the shot put. That throw was slightly ahead of teammate Craig Robinson (season-high 57-5), who placed fourth.
Christian Locke had a breakout meet in the pole vault. The freshman finished second with a leap of 15-5.
On the track, Southeast got another runner-up finish from Carter in the 100m (10.63). He was joined in the top five by Kendrick Farr, who took fifth with a time of 10.75. Farr also notched a third-place finish in the 200m (21.65).
Kameron Long also notched a runner-up finish in the 800m after finishing the race in 1:54.67. Tyler Holmes joined Long in the top five, finishing fourth in a time of 1:57.13.
The distance crew also got a nice outing from Alex Zisser, who finished second in the 1500m. Zisser crossed the line in 3:55.55, less than half a second away from his career-best. Brent Collins also took second in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing in 9:47.37. He was followed closely by Shane Brown, who took third with his time of 9:51.41.
Southeast returns to action next weekend when it travels to the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn.
