Fight Breast Cancer With the Redhawks
Wednesday, the Redhawks will contribute to the fight against breast cancer as they take on the Billikens of Saint Louis University. Special first pitches will be thrown prior to the game as well as pink rally towels and t-shirts will be given out to fans in attendance.
Scouting the Billikens
The Billikens are currently 23-19 this season. Jessica Van Nostrand is leading the Billiken offense with a .305 batting average, 19 RBI, and 23 runs scored. Lindsey Friedman is leading the Billikens with six home runs and 24 RBI this season. Laney Kneib spearheads the pitching staff with a 2.75 ERA with a 12-6 record through 112.0 innings of work. Brianna Lore has a 2.79 ERA, 11-13 record, and 104 strikeouts.
Series History
All-time, Southeast holds a large 42-14 margin over the Billikens. Last season, the Redhawks lost to Saint Louis in Kansas City, Mo. at the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament, 5-4 on March 3. The Redhawks traveled to Saint Louis May 1 and split a doubleheader, dropping game one, 0-1, and winning game two, 6-1.
Last Time Out
Southeast Missouri traveled to West division foe Austin Peay for a three games series Sunday and Monday. The Lady Govs swept the Redhawks in the three-game series.
31 Years of Excellence
With Thursday's win over the Southern Illinois Salukis, Lana Richmond recorded her 600th NCAA Division I victory. Richmond is in her 31st season as the head coach of the Redhawks. Coach Richmond's career record at Southeast is 8723-670-2. The five-time Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year currently ranks 40th in victories of all NCAA Division I head coaches.
Montgomery Bank Athlete of the Week
Alexis Anderson was named the Montgomery Bank Female Athlete of the Week for the third time this season last week. Anderson hit a team-best .636 (7-for-11), boasted a 1.091 slugging percentage and recorded a .636 on-base percentage in four games last week. A native of Buford, Ga., Anderson had three of her hits in game two of Sunday's doubleheader at Austin Peay. Anderson boasted a team-best 10-game hitting streak, which was snapped Monday against the Lady Govs.
Up Next...
The Redhawks will close the regular season Saturday and Sunday as they welcome the UT Martin Skyhawks. Five seniors, Leah Becker, Simone Patterson, Xia Wilson, Taylor Cowan, and Kaitlin Zink, will all be honored prior to Sunday's game.
