Redhawks to Take on Lady Govs in Modified Schedule

The three-game series with Austin Peay has been moved to Sunday and Monday.

Head coach Lana Richmond recorded her 600th Division I victory Thursday against SIU.

Modified Schedule

Due to the threat of inclement weather, the Redhawks and Lady Govs pushed the three-game series originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday to Sunday and Monday. Sunday will be a doubleheader at 12:00 p.m. and Monday's game will begin at 12:00 p.m. also.

Scouting the Lady Govs

The Redhawks and Lady Govs currently sit towards the bottom of the West division standings. As a team, Austin Peay is batting .254. Lauren de Castro leads the team batting .393 with a team-leading eight home runs and 29 RBI. Besides leading the offense, de Castro also leads the Austin Peay pitching staff with a 3.90 ERA and 7-11 record. 

Series History

All-time, Southeast holds a large 59-12 margin over the Lady Govs. Last season, the Redhawks swept APSU in Clarksville in a three-game series Apr. 14-15. 

Last Time Out

The Redhawks welcomed Southern Illinois Thursday, defeating the Salukis 14-7. The Redhawks hit three home runs in the game and scored a season-high 14 runs. With the victory, Southeast snapped a 14-game losing streak to the Salukis. Southeast hosted the final OVC inter-division series of the season Apr. 20-21 against Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State. Southeast split both doubleheaders; winning game one against the Colonels,12-11, dropping game two, 6-4, and losing game one to the Eagles, 7-6, winning game two, 5-4. The Redhawk offense hit .351 on the weekend with Alexis Anderson leading the way with a .563 batting average. Anderson scored six runs with one double and four RBI. Half of Anderson's runs came in game one against Morehead State. Anderson had at least two hits and at least one run in each contest.

600 Division I Wins

With Thursday's win over the Southern Illinois Salukis, Lana Richmond recorded her 600th NCAA Division I victory. Richmond is in her 31st season as the head coach of the Redhawks. Coach Richmond's career record at Southeast is 873-670-2. The five-time Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year currently ranks 40th in victories of all NCAA Division I head coaches. 

Up Next...

Southeast softball opens the final week of the season with a match-up against Saint Louis University Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.. The Redhawks will close the regular season Saturday and Sunday as they welcome UT Martin. The Redhawks will celebrate five seniors Sunday before the season finale.
