Scouting the Purple Aces

Evansville looks a lot like Southeast in terms of overall records. Evansville has one batter batting .300 or better in Tamara Robey who is batting .341. Kayla Fortner is batting .296 and has two doubles, a triple, four home runs, and 18 RBI this season. Sarah Patterson is leading the Ace's pitching staff with a 2.38 ERA and a 6-5 record. Patterson has struck out 72 batters and walked 18 this season.

Hello Again

The Redhawks and Aces met already this season at the UE Tournament Mar. 9-10. Evansville shutout Southeast in their first meeting 8-0 and defeated the Redhawks at day two of the tournament 9-2 in a rain-shortened game.

Last Time Out

The Redhawks were swept by OVC West Division foe SIU Edwardsville Mar. 29-30 in a three-game series. The Cougars run-ruled the Redhawks in all three games as Southeast was outscored 33-2 in the series.

31 Years of Excellence

Lana Richmond is in her 31st season as the head coach of the Redhawks. Coach Richmond's career record at Southeast is 868-658-2. She is currently on her way to capturing her 600th NCAA Division I victory (595-518-2). The five-time Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year currently ranks 40th in victories of all NCAA division head coaches.

Up Next…

Southeast will hit the road for another inter-division road trip with Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech. Both series will be doubleheaders beginning at 12:00 p.m. CT each day.
