Scouting the Falcons

Bowling Green is 5-4 overall this season, 3-1 at neutral sites. The Falcons have one batter batting .300 or better in Erika Stratton (.353). Their .181 team batting average ranks second last in the Mid-America Conference. However, the team 2.83 ERA ranks second-best in the MAC and are holding batters to a conference-leading .238 batting average, allowing only 25 runs and 44 hits this season. 

Scouting the Purple Aces

Evansville, who ranks last in the Missouri Valley Conference, is 1-8 this season, 0-0 at home. The Purple Aces have three batters batting .300 or better. Evansville's best pitcher has a 3.41 ERA in 12.1 innings of work. As a staff, they are holding opposing batters to a .322 batting average. 

Series Histories

This is the first-ever meeting between the Redhawks and Falcons. Since 1992, the first season Southeast first began Division I play, Southeast is 19-21 against the Purple Aces. 

Last Time Out

Thursday, March 7, Southeast opened the 2013 home schedule with a doubleheader against in-state rival Missouri State. Southeast won game one, 3-2, before falling in game two, 1-2. Taylor Cowan (2-4) earned her second win of the season in game one, pitching her fourth complete game of the 2013 season. Hannah Clemons (1-2) suffered her second loss this season in the game two loss. Each pitcher struck out season-high batters in the twin bill. 

31 Years of Excellence

Lana Richmond is in her 31st season as the head coach of the Redhawks. Coach Richmond's career record at Southeast is 862-651-2. She is currently on her way to capturing her 600th NCAA Division I victory (589-511-2). The five-time Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year currently ranks 40th in victories of all NCAA division head coaches. 

Up Next

Southeast will host the Indiana State Sycamores Wednesday, March 13 in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. Ohio Valley Conference play begins March 16 at Murray State to begin Spring Break. Southeast hosts Georgia Tech comes on March 20 before traveling to Western Kentucky for a doubleheader on March 21, followed by a trip to Nashville to compete against East Division rivals Belmont (March 23) and Tennessee State (March 24).
