Redhawks Host In-State Rivals In Mid-Week Doubleheaders

Harris-Stowe and Missouri State will make the trip to Cape Girardeau to open the 2013 home schedule.

Scouting the Hornets
With their first four games cancelled this season, the Hornets open the 2013 season in Cape Girardeau. Their games at Brescia and home against Central Methodist were all cancelled due to rain.
 
Scouting the Bears
Missouri State, who was originally scheduled to visit Cape Girardeau during the All-Missouri Cancer Classic, is currently 7-8 in 2013. The Bears have two batters batting .400 or better with six batting .300 or better. The Bears are currently 2-3 on the road.
 
Series Histories
Tuesday's game will be the first-ever meeting between Southeast and Harris-Stowe. Southeast is 3-19 all-time against Missouri State. The Redhawks lost to the Bears twice in 2012: first at the Blues City Classic, 1-4, and then at the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament, 4-5.
 
Last Time Out
Southeast took part in the Blues City Classic hosted by Memphis Feb. 22-24. The Redhawks went 1-4 with their only win coming against Detroit in a 10-inning, 4 hour game. Southeast fell to Samford, Nicholls State, Mississippi State, and Memphis. Taylor Cowan earned Second Team honors after batting .333 with three doubles and a home run as well as recording a 1.53 ERA with a save in 18.1 innings of work.
 
31 Years of Excellence
Lana Richmond is in her 31st season as the head coach of the Redhawks. Coach Richmond's career record at Southeast is 861-650-2. She is currently on her way to capturing her 600th NCAA Division I victory (588-510-2). The five-time Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year currently ranks 40th in victories of all NCAA division head coaches.
 
Up Next
The Redhawks will make the trip to Evansville, Ind. this weekend to conclude tournament play of the 2013 season. Southeast will take on both Bowling Green and Evansville Saturday, March 9, and Sunday, March 10. Southeast will then host Indiana State Wednesday, March 13 in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. Ohio Valley Conference play begins March 16 at Murray State.
