Scouting the Yellow Jackets
The Yellow Jackets began a seven-game road swing at SIUE Tuesday before coming to Cape for a single game Wednesday. Five Yellow Jackets are batting above .300 led by junior Ashley Thomas (.420). Thomas has maintained a batting average of at least .400 since Feb. 10 and is on a 25-game hitting streak. Hope Rush leads the squad in the circle with a 3.90 ERA. In 84.1 innings, Rush has allowed 47 earned runs and struck out 48 batters.
Scouting the Lady Toppers
WKU earned its first Sun Belt Conference sweep of the season last weekend, taking three games from Florida Atlantic at home. The Lady Toppers have four batters batting .300 or better led by Katrina Metoyer batting .385 with six doubles, a triple, three home runs, and 16 RBI. From the circle, WKU has a team 2.09 ERA. Emily Rousseau has pitched 76.2 innings and holds an 8-3 record and 1.73 ERA. She also has two shutouts and two saves to her name. Rousseau has fanned 84 batters this season.
Series Histories
The Redhawks and Yellow Jackets met back in 1995 when the Redhawks won 2-1 over the Jackets. The Lady Toppers hold an 1-6 advantage over the Redhawks all time. Southeast defeated WKU 8-1 in 2000 but has lost five straight games since to the Lady Toppers.
Montgomery Bank Athlete of the Week
Alexis Anderson was named the Montgomery Bank Female Athlete of the Week this week. Anderson, who hails from Buford, Ga., hit .636 (7-of-11) in four games, helping lead the Southeast softball team to a 3-1 record last week. She went 5-for-7 with two home runs and a double in the Redhawks doubleheader at Murray State on Mar. 16. Anderson also scored three times, had four RBI and stole two bases against the Racers. Additionally, she reached over the fence to rob Murray State of a home run in game one and boasted a 1.273 slugging percentage on the week.
Last Time Out
Southeast hosted the Indiana State Sycamores Wednesday, Mar. 13 in a mid-week doubleheader. The Redhawks got the brooms out in the doubleheader sweep of the Sycamores. The Redhawks opened Ohio Valley Conference play in Murray, Ky. this past weekend. The Redhawks split Saturday's doubleheader, winning game one 9-3, and falling in game two 8-1 to the Racers. Sundays series finale was cancelled due to inclement weather.

Lana Richmond is in her 31st season as the head coach of the Redhawks. Coach Richmond's career record at Southeast is 866-655-2. She is currently on her way to capturing her 600th NCAA Division I victory (593-515-2). The five-time Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year currently ranks 40th in victories of all NCAA division head coaches.
Up Next...
The Redhawks will end Spring Break with a trip to Nashville, Tenn. to compete against East Division rivals Belmont (Mar. 23) and Tennessee State (Mar. 24). Each series will be a doubleheader beginning at noon. Southeast will kickoff a five-game home stand when they host the Cougars of SIUE in the first home OVC series of the season Mar. 29-30. The home stand will conclude with a doubleheader against Evansville Apr. 2.
