Scouting the Racers

Much like the Redhawks, the Racers had a tough weekend at the Evansville Tournament, going 1-3. Murray State split with Bowling Green, but was swept by regional rival Evansville. In the current OVC standings, Murray sits right below Southeast in last place in the West Division. The Racers have two batters batting .300 or better in Shelbey Miller and Casey Castile.

Series History

The Redhawks and Racers have only met nine times. Murray holds a 6-3 advantage over the Redhawks going into Saturday's games.

Last Time Out

Southeast hosted the Indiana State Sycamores Wednesday, Mar. 13 in a mid-week doubleheader. The Redhawks got the brooms out in the doubleheader sweep. Chelsea Smith finished the day 5-for-7 with two doubles, and two RBI. Taylor Cowan went 4-for-7 with two doubles and four RBI. The Redhawks combined for seven doubles and 13 RBI in the doubleheader sweep and out-hit Indiana State 25-16.

Conference Play is Upon Us

Ohio Valley Conference play will begin this weekend, Mar. 16 & 17, in Murray, Ky. The Redhawks and Racers sit at the bottom of the West Division of the OVC, fifth and sixth places, respectively. Murray is currently 6-11 this season prior to conference play.

31 Years of Excellence

Lana Richmond is in her 31st season as the head coach of the Redhawks. Coach Richmond's career record at Southeast is 865-654-2. She is currently on her way to capturing her 600th NCAA Division I victory (592-514-2). The five-time Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year currently ranks 40th in victories of all NCAA division head coaches.
