CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Southeast Missouri track and field programs head to former Ohio Valley Conference foe Samford this weekend to take part in the Samford Invitational. Action opens up on Friday evening and continues on Saturday.
The Redhawks are coming off a solid dual meet with SIUE last weekend in Cape Girardeau. The men's team took nine event titles on the evening with the women's team winning six events.

Courtney Gapelu was named Adidas Ohio Valley Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week, it is the second straight week she has garnered the award. Sophomore
Reggie Miller, Jr. was named Adidas Men's Co-Field Athlete of the Week, It is the second time this season he has earned the ward.
Gapelu, a native of Independence, Mo. continued her strong season by winning the shot put with a school record mark of 51'9” breaking the old school record of 50'4” by Lutricia Purham in 2000 in the Southeast's dual meet with SIUE last Friday evening. She continues to lead the OVC in the shot put event. Gapelu also earned a second place finish in the weight throw with a career-best throw.
Miller, Jr., a native of Kansas City, Mo. won a pair of titles in the high jump and the triple jump last week in Southeast's dual meet with SIUE. In the triple jump he recorded a career-best mark of 48'8.75” and he cleared 6'9.75” in the high jump. His mark in the triple jump currently leads the OVC.
Jerika Lewis led the Redhawk runners with a pair of wins last weekend. The senior won the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.21. She then went on to win the 300 meter dash with a time of 40.04.
Southeast will return home next Friday evening for the Redhawks Invitational.
