Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Ed Draper and Rachel Kahle of Southeast Missouri were named to the USTFCCCA (United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association) All-Academic Team earlier this week. A record total of 663 student-athletes representing 172 institutions earned the award on the women's side and 402 student-athletes representing 153 institutions earned the award on the men's side.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships.
Draper, earned a GPA of 4.0 during the 2010-11 academic year. The graduate student also enjoyed success on the field during the 2011 season winning the Ohio Valley Javelin Championship. Draper also qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary.
Kahle, earned a 3.66 GPA during the 2010-11 academic year majoring in biomedical science. The senior from Jackson, Mo. was part of Southeast's 4x100-meter relay team that finished 17th with a time of 45.90 at the NCAA West Preliminary.
